Here’s what actually happened: when Leeth crashed his car on the side of the Ohio Turnpike, a state trooper approached him to make sure he was okay — that’s when things took a turn. Leeth was able to overpower the trooper, climbing on top of him and knocking his bodycam loose. Then, Leeth hopped in the cruiser and led state troopers on a wild goose chase all the way into Pennsylvania where he crashed the car. Then, Leeth violently resisted authorities again — that’s when he was shot and killed. It turns out this wasn’t DeShawn's first run-in with the law. Leeth had pleaded guilty to nine home invasions across two cases that date back to 2012.
