I love this, it is what I have always tried to do up here in Canada. Asparagus, service berries, black raspberries, elderberries, strawberries, rhubarb, gooseberries and horse radish all in my yard but now in a small garden. A vegetable patch is well worth it's work too. I also grow New Zealand spinach as it too is perennial and it last through a hot summer and our cold winters. I do not have the room needed for fruit trees but am trying to figure about using miniature here or grapes on the fence maybe. I miss the farm where we raised all of our food especially our meat in surplus, but I am much too old to do so now and my kids hate the work and knowledge us old folk learned from childhood. I must try growing another lemon tree in the house as I love lemons to season with they make many flavors light up and the trees add a lovely fresh scent to the house but very little production for fruit grown this way.
