Allegiant’s new flight to Punta Gorda/Fort Myers out of Niagara Falls, NY has opened a new and sunny region of budget-friendly travel for families in the Greater Toronto Area. Niagara Falls International Airport is just minutes from the U.S./Canadian border.
Punta Gorda and Fort Myers offer a range of fun family activities that won’t break the bank – just like the flight, which Allegiant offers as low as $93.99 one way between Niagara Falls and Punta Gorda. Below are five of the most fun family-friendly activities in the Punta Gorda/Fort Myers area.

For the Animal Lover

The Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary has been helping to rescue and rehabilitate wild animals for decades. Here visitors can see tigers, lions, bears, donkeys, peacocks and alligators. These animals are given a loving home through this organization. Part of the funding for the sanctuary’s work helping to save these animals is through the reasonable admission price – $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and children (children 7 and under are free).

For the Sweet Tooth

Sugar Island Cupcakes gets rave reviews from almost everyone lucky enough to taste their cupcakes. Prices start at $3 for jumbo cupcakes and with flavours like Chocolate Chip Yummy and Coconut Overdose they are worth every penny!

For the Car Lover

The Muscle Car Museum is a car lover’s dream. With well over 200 vintage ’50s to early ’70s muscle cars on display in the 99,000 sq. ft. museum – with one or more Corvettes from years 1954 to 1975 and several of each from 1975 to 2006, there is plenty to see for the entry fee of $12.50 for adults and $6 for children (children under 2 are free). And, if hunger strikes, there is a reasonably priced restaurant that serves good diner food like burgers, dogs and shakes – in big portions!

For the Hiker (Who Likes Alligators!)

Alligator Creek Preserve offers free access to four miles of amazing nature trails. Year-round volunteers offer interpretive trail walks to the public, also free of charge. On these trail walks, a wide variety of birds and, often, alligators are seen from the trail walkway.

For the Shopper

Fisherman’s Village is a beautiful waterfront area that offers many shopping and dining opportunities for a range of budgets. From shoes and bathing suits, to fudge and frozen yogurt, to fish and chips and lasagna, Fisherman’s Village has something for everyone in the family.
