CFP Yorkshire Terrier mascot,  'Yankee Boy’ gets groomedCanada Free Press Yorkshire Terrier mascot, 'Yankee Boy', held back by virus Lockdown for three long months, was finally able to get a haircut at the groomer’s today. With the horrific heat and humidity of the last few days, and more on the way, being shorn of his overgrown taffy-colored fur couldn’t have come at a better time. Meanwhile, throwing himself down in any cool corner he could find, where he heaved loud sighs, the lolling of his tongue in the muggy humidity, was enough to break human hearts. Many people here in in Ontario, already down at heart due to lockdowns, were singing the blues yesterday when Premier Doug Ford announced plans to extend some pandemic emergency measures well into the new year—with a total of 36,178 cases to date. For the first time in their lives, they can’t get into churches without registering first, and being led to their seats wearing masks. No singing in church—and no talking to each other out in church parking lots! People who lost jobs in the first wave of the virus but somehow found new ones, are now worried they will find themselves out of work again. Like Yankee, most were only able to get haircuts during the last couple of weeks. Meantime, Notice to all neighbourhood squirrels along the lonely roads where Yankee is walked.
