A conversation with Lefty

I was speaking to a Democratic friend of mind I affectionately call Lefty. (Indeed I do have friends on the other side). Humorously, I call him Lefty because he’s a southpaw, throws and bats from the left side. Interesting how his politics rooted itself on the Left, isn’t it?

I was relating to Lefty my dismay the Fisker Automotive Company of Anaheim felt it necessary to export its technology and contract with a Finnish company in building electric cars. The Program was recently bolstered by the Obama regime’s $529 million loan from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Program. I was surprised the jobs to assemble 15,000 electric vehicles, the point of profitability, were being exported given the moribund state of our economy. Lefty, who is an Obama champion and spokesmen for the barking seals lamented, “We just don’t have the skilled technicians to build these cars of the future.” “Whoa! Now you have my attention,” I retorted, “and New Mexico-sized Finland with a population of 5.4 million does?” The conversation began to unravel, but I continued and I reminded my friend that the Fisker Company just bought a GM factory in Newark, Delaware for a bargain price $20 million. Build the electric cars in Delaware which incidentally has a September unemployment rate of 8.1%.

Lefty was silent. If this glaring loan was not so quick on the heals of the Solyndra scandal, I might not be so cynical. Given the Obama’s regime poor track record on lending the People’s money is there anyone in the room who thinks this company is actually going to be successful in manufacturing electric cars? Do the math. $529 million loan to build 15,000 electric cars is $35,266 per vehicle. Now add on a profit. Obama is certainly no poster boy for capitalism, given his non-existent experience running anything except for elected office. Since the jury is still out on Solyndra and the mater is buried in the bankruptcy Court in northern California, I wonder aloud if the People will ever find out where the Government’s $500 million loan went to. I am surprised the mainstream media continues to give Obama a free pass and not query the Commerce Department on the final resting spots from this tax payer-generated money. I submit for your review the following: Obama lends Solyndra $500 million on the condition Solyndra kicks back an unknown percentage to the Democratic National Committee to re-elect the president. When I posed this possibility to Lefty, he scoffed at me like a child whose lollipop I just seized, become indignant and said, “Get real, Roger. They all do it.” Corruption and crony capitalism is just part of everyday life. This is the president of moocher, leeches, criminals, and America-haters. This is the president who is quite comfortable in the company of anti-Semites like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan. Hmmm! C’mon Lefty, let’s go watch Texas and St. Louis. Take back America 2012.
