A Prime Minister with NO MANDATE but a Liberal Mandate--Not a Canadian Mandate

Well, we have an appointed Prime Minister--not an elected Prime Minister. Nothing like having a PM without a Canadian mandate, following the advice of Gerald Butts and Katie Telford, now is there? Yes, they’re still in the backroom, but I digress…

He can’t make deals – he has no mandate

To the trip to Europe for the PM Carney. So, Carney’s first official trip is to Europe, to have a chat with PM Starmer and President Macron. What authority does Carney have to make such a trip to discuss trade, defence, amongst other things? Absolutely ZERO!

What I find even more concerning is he is an appointed leader – not a democratically elected leader and he should merely be the bureaucrat he has always been – not speaking and/or acting on behalf of Canadians. 140,000 votes does not an elected representative make.

And what is this trip supposed to do? He can’t make deals – he has no mandate. He can’t discuss defence – he has no mandate. He might merely do what the last Liberal PM did and insult Europe by, again, denying Europe the most important ask from Europe – oil and gas to heat their nations and their people. And what about supply management – is he going to put that on the table, because that is one reason why the CETA deal has gone nowhere.

But what is this all about?

Liberals want what China has--a dictatorship

This is merely poking at Trump. It seems Carney will use any and all dictator powers, he can muster, to make the Liberals look good by using “orders in Council,” but that isn’t governing. Heck those powers weren’t even, or were very sparingly, used during the world wars, so why are they so abused now? Because the Liberals want what China has--a dictatorship.

So, he has no mandate from Canadians therefore he can’t even represent Canada, and where does that leave Canadians? Like any dictatorship--we are at the mercy of the Grand Poobah appointed by the Liberal party, and if left to his own discretion can cause greater damage than his predecessor? That’s where Canadians are. Not to mention, as Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, has clearly stated about Carney’s trip: (CBC, March 13, 2025)

"Not good, not good. We don't have a trade war with the European Union today," 

"To choose to go to the European Union is beyond what I could understand as being in any way impactful or representing Canadians," he said."
