A Tale of Two Brothers

This is a true story about a man and his brother. The first man wanted run his own business and to determine his own destiny. He started the business with very little equipment, ran it from his home, worked long hours and generally took only enough money to survive.

His wife worked along side him, did not complain about his long hours or lack of income. Over the years their business survived several recessions. It changed as the world changed. They supported themselves, their employees, and paid handsomely into the system with their tax dollars. The man's brother lived a poverty-level life. The first man employed him and encouraged him to move up, to take responsibility, to use his talents. The brother made no effort to advance. He often commented that he could never do what the first man had done. He didn't want the risk or the stress or the long hours. He understood that about himself. The point is, we are not all equal. We will only achieve income equality by theft of the rewards of hard work, thus killing all incentive. We need to be honest and careful in this discussion. People have different abilities. People have varying levels of desire. Not all people are motivated. Not all people have self discipline. The big lie is that people don't have equal opportunity and that job creators are "advantaged". The government is selling the lie as if their political life depends on it - because it does.
