About That Zelenskyy Bust: Come Back To Reality, Rep. Joe Wilson
Rather than letting South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson get away with having a bust of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy permanently placed in the House wing of the United States Capitol, Repubs should go for a picture of Wilson with the caption, “Come Back To Reality!” on display in the Capitol. Joe Wilson’s picture with that caption could be the one that would haunt any proud-to-be-American house. Wilson, media-described by some South Carolina news outlets as a “staunch conservative” seems to have taken leave of his senses.

In a time when statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other American heroes are being torn down

In a time when statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other American heroes are being torn down, “staunch conservative” Wilson wants a bust of the president of a foreign country overlooking Congress creatures as they go about their business in the House wing of the U.S. Capitol. But Wilson is not laying on sarcasm and is not kidding. Indeed, little wonder why Gateway Pundit headlined their story today: ‘NOT A JOKE: "Republican" Congressman Joe Wilson Wants a BUST OF ZELENSKYY In The U.S. Capitol’. “Now this takes the “I support the current thing” meme to a whole new level. Supposed South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson is so enamored with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that he wants a bust of him in the House wing of the United States Capitol. (Gateway Pundit, Jan. 11, 2023)
“This no doubt makes other members of the Uniparty extraordinarily jealous. Dan Crenshaw is probably punching walls wondering why he did not think of this first. What could possibly happen next, flying the Ukrainian flag in the Capitol? Oh wait, that already occurred. “Anyway, here’s the story in The Washington Times about Wilson hailing his hero Zelenskyy:

“A Republican congressman is proposing to place a bust of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the House wing of the U.S. Capitol. “Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina filed a resolution earlier this week directing the Fine Arts Board of the U.S. House of Representatives to obtain a bust of Mr. Zelenskyy for display. “The board has authority over all works of art and historical objects displayed on the House wing of the U.S. Capitol and the associated office buildings. “Mr. Wilson, who has served in Congress since 2001, is a senior member of both the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees. Earlier this year, he was tapped to lead an internal GOP task force focusing on national security. “A staunch conservative, who came under fire for shouting “you lie” at former President Obama during a 2009 address to Congress, Mr. Wilson has emerged as a strong supporter of Ukraine. “In December, he told the Charleston Post and Courier that Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression reminded him of the American Revolution.
“Going from bold truth-teller to sycophant of a corrupt dictator definitely qualifies as a sad arc. The Swamp literally does drain even supposed maverick politicians.(Gateway Pundit) "Message to Wilson: Zelenskyy is not going to date you. Of course, he is perfectly content to take billions of additional U.S. taxpayer dollars. “We need Congressional members willing to put America first and must remove politicians subservient to foreign leaders and special interests. Joe Wilson certainly qualifies for removal from office.”

Did “staunch conservative” Wilson get the idea for a permanent bust of Zelenskyy when Democrat former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Did “staunch conservative” Wilson get the idea for a permanent bust of Zelenskyy when Democrat former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and current Vice President Kamala Harris smilingly held up the Ukrainian flag in the background when Zelenskyy was addressing Congress? Well, getting a bust cast and having it delivered overseas costs money, Joe. “Zelensky’s trip took place as Congress deliberates an omnibus spending bill that would appropriate $45 billion more for Ukraine assistance, on top of $66 billion appropriated this year.(Breitbart, Dec. 21, 2022)
“During his address, Zelensky thanked Congress for its continuing support for Ukraine, while members of Congress gave him repeated standing ovations. "At the end of his address, Zelensky unveiled a Ukrainian flag signed by Ukrainian troops in Bahkmut, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Vice President Kamala Harris held behind Zelensky as he gave his last remarks. "However, some Republicans were clearly not moved. "Zelensky said during his speech, “Your money is not charity. It’s an investment in the global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way.”

He should stick it where the sun don’t shine

"Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) tweeted in response, “It is not charity. Charity would be given freely. The American taxpayers have been conscripted into making welfare payments to this foreign government.” "Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said in a statement, “President Zelensky should be commended for putting his country first, but American politicians who indulge his requests are unwilling to do the same for ours.” “Hemorrhaging billions of taxpayer dollars for Ukraine while our country is in crisis is the definition of America Last,” he said. “He did not change my stance on suspending aid for Ukraine and investigating fraud in transfers already made.” “Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) demanded a “full audit” of where the previous money sent to Ukraine went. "As noted by one Axios reporter, some Republicans did not join in during the repeated standing ovations for Zelensky during his joint address.”
“Meanwhile, Joe Wilson knows what he can do with his Zelenskyy bust. He should stick it where the sun don’t shine.
