ACLU Strikes Again; Tries to Stop Fla. God and Country Rally

- Reprinted with permission from Boogai.net On August 23, I read in the Press Gazette that the ACLU was challenging the City of Milton’s participation in the God and Country Rally, and my blood pressure went up considerably. I say enough is enough! When the ACLU comes in and basically takes away from the funds that were being raised for The Wounded Warrior Project, it’s time to stand up for those who put their lives on the line for us.

Our local Santa Rosa Fire Fighters Association had put together the God and Country event to be held at Milton High School on September 11 to honor our hero’s, those who were there for the people during the 9/11 attack on America, and those who have fought on foreign soil for our freedom. The God and Country event is free, but plans were to ask for donations which would go to the Wounded Warrior Project. The City of Milton was going to let them fall under their insurance umbrella so any funds raised beyond fixed expenses would go straight to the warriors who had served our country. Then, according to the ACLU they received complaints about the City being involved with something to do with God. Apparently we have 5 complainers in our community who are not patriots – sorry, but patriots help Wounded Warriors, not hurt them. The City felt they had to pull out their support, (which is understandable considering what it cost the school board when they were under attack by the ACLU).. This left the Fire Fighters Association to pay $1,000 for insurance to cover the event or cancel. Thank you local heroes, you took a chance and you didn’t cancel! The only thing wrong with that is the $1,000 will come off the top of the donations they will receive on September 11.

The goal of the ACLU was to stop the event just as they try to stop anything to do with God. Well, thanks to the firefighters, they just changed gears and said they weren’t cancelling. So, there you go ACLU! Can you hear our hero’s now? They didn’t cancel! That is why they are heroes, they don’t give up. I thought about how I could help and decided to figure out a way to make lemonade out of the lemons thrown by the ACLU. Better yet, I thought I will really upset them and use GOD’S Word… Genesis 50:20 says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” How appropriate this scripture is for this issue. Sept. 11, 2001 our country was harmed by foreign enemies, and people came together and saved many lives that day. Now, the ACLU has again tried to harm us, by trying to stop the Sept. 11, 2011 event. But we’ll use our patriotic spirit, our love for our country and its hero’s, and the power of the Word of God to make something good out of this. It’s a simple plan; we need to replace this $1,000 so nothing will have to be taken out of the donations to the Wounded Warriors. No marches, no ugly words, just simply replace the money! This is something all patriots in Santa Rosa County can do. I have spoken with Chief Reble and a couple of the other fire departments about my idea. They were so grateful that I was willing to do this. Those fire department’s that have regular hours or 24 hour access will have an empty fireman’s boot available at their fire department for people to go by and drop off a donation. We need to fill those boots several times. It doesn’t matter if you can only give a quarter, or you have the ability to give a $100 or more. Any amount will help. Have a yard sale, set up a lemonade stand, get the whole family involved, let the children drop the money in the boot, build those young hearts toward God and country. Drop off your donation to: The City of Milton Fire Dept. 5321 Stewart St, Midway Fire Department, 1322 College Pkwy – Gulf Breeze, Skyline Fire Department 6924 Hwy 87 N., Milton, Pace Fire Department 4773 Pace Patriot Blvd, Pace (hours for dropping off at Pace FD are Mon-Fri 7:00am-11am and 1pm-6pm). If any of these offices are closed there is a 24 hour bell that you can ring and they will respond. Let’s show the ACLU that they may think another assault on Santa Rosa County will break us, but you can’t keep a God fearing, patriotic Santa Rosan down! Don’t forget to drop off your donation before Sept. 11 and be sure to attend the Santa Rosa County God & Country Rally “Restoring Faith in God, Country and Patriotism” September 11, 2011 3:00 pm Milton High School Stadium.
