Adapt and overcome

Well, the rubber has met the road. We are now being punished by the government because we want to live within our means. Now is the time to see whether we have the courage of our convictions.

The FAA has pulled funding for Air Traffic Controllers from 3 smaller airports in our area. These facilities can continue to operate putting the responsibility on the pilots to not run into each other. A skill pilots have. This may be less than ideal but it is workable. All budget cuts ruffle someone's feathers. They may also require some extra work and planning. And every cut is someone's sacred cow. There will be whining. No one is asking this: Since all sequester does is reduce the amount of increase, why does a service that was funded this year get cut? But I digress. We expected the wrath of big brother. Now, do we buck up and deal with it or do we stomp our feet? This is probably only the first or many pains that will be inflicted. I say, let's call their bluff. Applaud the response to our call for reduced spending. Celebrate the fact that Republicans didn't fold on sequestration. Do what we do best, to take a phase from an Army friend, adapt and overcome.
