Bad coverage by big media, Sharp decline in numbers who believe in Global Warming

Alarmist mis-Leader Joe Romm blames NY Times’ Revkin for latest Pew Study results

As previously reported here, the Pew Research Center released it's latest survey results showing a "sharp decline over the past year in the percentage of Americans who see solid evidence that global temperatures are rising."

Joe Romm, alarmist extraordinaire at Climate Progress, is apoplectic and blames bad coverage by the media, singling out Andrew Revkin of the NY Times:
Yes, bad coverage by big media, including the NYT’s Revkin, is one reason there has been a modest decline since April 2008 in the number of Americans who know that there is solid (in fact, overwhelming) evidence the Earth is warming and humans are the primary cause.
If 20 percentage points is only a "modest" decline over a one-year period, I'd hate to see how Romm defines a sharp decline. Wait, he actually did (See above). He also uses a quote said by Revkin in an NPR interview…
“I’ve made missteps. I’ve made probably more mistakes this year in my print stories than I had before.”
…to completely distort its context and meaning and serve his purposes. In Romm's roomy skull, Big Media is at fault for only 1 in 3 people being concerned about man-made GW. Romm doesn't blame the shaky science, deceptive and missing data, and the shrill predictions that just aren't coming true. Or the fact the planet has been cooling for over a decade. Sadly, Romm calls for shutting down journalists' blogs in exchange for people like Revkin "not repeatedly screwing up the facts…" According to him, it's not that Revkin doesn't have fact-checkers at the Times, it's that he can't write print articles and blog at the same time. That should be left only to people like...Romm? This site has taken Revkin to task for using his blog to push his own agenda and personal views, but on the whole he appears to be a thoughtful thinker who only wants to understand the world around him for the benefit of his readers. I may not like some of his conclusions, but I certainly wouldn't suggest putting a padlock on his well-used keyboard for doing it. Romm goes on to give a FINAL NOTE TO THE MEDIA: "Time for you to go back to the basics of reporting the science. You might stop the blogging and start with this story…" The story he refers to is linked to, of course, another blog post hastily written by Joe Romm in his usual hysterical, breathless manner. Can someone tell me the name of the journalism school Romm graduated from? Send me an email or comment below. I also implore you to read the comments on any Romm post. As we've reported before, he won't allow contrarian points of view published (Revkin allows all comments barring only those that are way off-topic or foul) and keeps a very tight leash on who can comment and what they can say. He has banned other scientists, readers, and websites that don't follow the unpublished rules of his imperium. If a reader points out a factual error, he ignores it. Which I suppose is bliss for him. A tenant of great journalism is absolute freedom to engage your readers in healthy debate. He may learn that the world he repeatedly turns off with his dogma and ritualistic zeal for puffery is heard as an ear-splitting noise in a quiet library. Thomas Richard is Editor of Climate Change Fraud (CCF) a site dedicated to debunking, reviewing, and responding to the shrill cries of the media and the global warming zealots who have embraced anthropogenic global warming (AGW) as an eco-religion and not as a scientific endeavor for answers. This site does not dispute that global temperatures have increased, on average less than 1°C, over the past 100 years. What CCF does seek to do is repudiate the consensus that the cause is man-made and the principal culprit is CO2, through facts, articles, and other sources not readily available in the mainstream media. One goal is to deconstruct the AGW myth propagated by ex-VP-turned-green activist Al Gore and the highly political IPCC. Thomas can be reached at: info@climatechangefraud.com
