Electing anti-Semites to Congress is a dangerous threat to the Jewish people, to Israel, and to America

Anti-Semitism Invades Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The “vile poison of anti-Semitism” that President Trump referred to in his recent State of the Union speech has clearly invaded Congress. Democrat Rashida Tlaib from Michigan, one of two Muslim women elected to Congress, supports the replacement of Israel with a Palestinian state. Tlaib said, “A lot of my strength comes from being Palestinian.” After she won her primary race last year, she published several anti-Israel tweets and re-tweeted a fan who declared that Tlaib’s “first fight was for Palestine, always Palestine.”
Tlaib has praised anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, who said “powerful Jews” run the government and control Hollywood and that white people deserve to die. Farrakhan is a poisonous influence among many leaders. He praises Adolf Hitler and claims that Jews caused the Holocaust and even blames them for 9/11. He said, “The Jews don’t like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that’s a good name. Hitler was a very great man.” Farrakhan has also called white people “white devils,” “potential humans” who “haven’t evolved yet.” Tlaib was a guest columnist in 2006 for Louis Farrakhan's newspaper, Final Call, an outlet for the Nation of Islam leader's anti-Semitic rants. A few months before Tlaib's piece attacking U.S. immigration law appeared, Final Call published this Farrakhan ranting piece of writing: “These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood. . . that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength.” At least seven other House Democrats have been tied to Farrakhan, who calls Jewish people “Satan” and chanted “Death to Israel” while visiting Iran last year. The second Muslim woman elected to Congress, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, serves as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district and is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel of New York, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that it was “shocking to hear a member of Congress invoke the anti-Semitic trope of ‘Jewish money.’”

Omar is scheduled to speak at a fundraiser for Islamic Relief USA, a Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas- linked group which engages radical Islamic clerics to speak at its events. One of them, Haitham al-Haddad, has described Jews as “the enemies of God, and the descendants of apes and pigs” and supports female genital mutilation, child marriage and domestic violence. Islamic Relief USA's operations manager, Yousef Abdallah, published a story celebrating “martyrs” who supply guns to “kill more than 20 Jews” and “fire rockets at Tel Aviv.” Both Tlaib and Omar will also be speaking at a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. “Anti-Semitism is a cancer and we must stand against this hateful ideology,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “History teaches us what happened when people did not speak up and fight against anti-Semitism. Silence is not an option. Electing anti-Semites to Congress is a dangerous threat to the Jewish people, to Israel, and to America. Wake up, America!” said Staver.
