Are Mr. & Mrs. Smith Going to Washington?

I held off commenting on the events of this past week to refrain from making any knee-jerk comments, but it does look increasingly as if Mr. and Mrs. Smith have genuine opportunities to go to Washington, if the pundits don’t derail them. It’s time to run the likes of Senator Paine (in the neck) and the Taylor Machine [Mr. Smith Goes to Washington] out of politics.

The resumes of Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer are impressive, but their verbal and written comments following Christine O’Donnell’s upset of establishment nominee, Mike Castle, reminded me of Senator Reid’s comment that the war in Iraq was lost, prior to the surge being implemented. Wouldn’t the goals of the GOP be better served with these iconic figures closing ranks with the people’s choice in DE, taking advantage of the people’s unrest that has resurrected the GOP just 22 months since it was routed at the polls? Many of the newly politically engaged are oblivious to the finer points of politics, so it is up to those in the GOP hierarchy to realize that it needs to be responsive to the energy of the TEA Party within the GOP. Instead of chastising the DE GOP voters and their choice for the GOP nominee for their state’s Senate seat, shouldn’t Mr. Rove and Mr. Krauthammer be directing their concerns towards the DE GOP hierarchy for supporting Mike Castle for this position? Yes, Mike Castle was the easy choice, but this is the year of a gigantic paradigm shift by the electorate, the ‘Howard Beale’ [Network] faction of America, that is demanding truly representative government and politicians with spines and principles. ‘We’re as mad as hell, and we’re not going to take this anymore!’ At a time demanding bold leadership, many in the leadership of the GOP are trying to win Congressional seats by implementing plays from an outdated playbook. Recent events reveal the concerns and determination of those who have been abandoned by both parties over the past 30 years. The GOP needs the votes to re-capture the House and the Senate, but the country needs Representatives and Senators who are not slaves to a hideous agenda, decimating our country and allowing the feudal lords to amass greater power at the expense of the serfs they have sworn an oath to represent! Voters bear responsibility for our own apathy and acquiescence for poor party choices of the past, but that is not the situation today. People are speaking out and taking action that threatens the ‘old guard’ of both parties, but it is within the GOP that true change is occurring, albeit slowly. Unfortunately, the Demoncratic party hierarchy (the spelling is intentional, just as the Demoncrats’ destructive agenda is intentional) demands subservience, and too few individual thinkers have the courage and intestinal fortitude to break from the stranglehold of the feudalistic, political system of the Demoncratic Party. From the top of the RNC and the state affiliates, there needs to be a cleansing of those who are willing to promote and support those who defy the conservative National Party Platform. It is either that, or watch as the energy of the party departs to form a third party. Christine O’Donnell may have an uphill challenge in DE, but let’s hope the voters in DE are as frustrated as voters are across the nation, and the days of voting along party lines gives way to voting for someone who will stand up to the Obama-led Progressive blitzkrieg that is pummeling our Constitution and our stealing our freedoms. I believe every voter should view ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington’ prior to casting his/her vote. If it doesn’t bring tears to your eyes and help make good choices inside the voting booth, you are either a Demoncrat, or a spoilsport Scozzafava or Murkowski supporter!
