Freedom comes with responsibility

Are you and our country better off now?

As we race towards an election that promises to be historical in its impact, will we seize the day? To paraphrase a question, asked 30 years ago, are you and our country better off now, with the false promises of hope and change, and the balkanization of our country?

If we cannot answer this question affirmatively and enthusiastically, why don’t we look inside ourselves before casting our votes? As easy as it might be to point the finger at those in elected office, it was the majority of us who voted to put those elitist, greedy, and power-hungry politicians into office. There are those in office who are there to serve and honor their oath of office, but sadly, they are in the minority. Actions speak louder than words, and, all-too-often, we fall for the deceptive words of those we desperately want to believe. President Lincoln believed that our country suffered our country’s terrible and divisive ‘Civil War’ because of the permitting and protection of slavery within our borders for almost 250 years. Fast-forwarding to today, how much more, and severe suffering do we have to look forward to for our allowance of the systematic and systemic assault upon our Creator, traditional morals, ethics and principles by those in elective and appointed positions of leadership over the past 50 years? There is a saying that ‘We get the government we deserve.’ Many of us have fought at the ballot box against those hostile to the very source of our blessings, but we can’t do it alone. Our Lord demands that we turn away from Satan’s seductive lure, en masse, or suffer our man-made Hell on Earth. Progressivism is some of Satan’s finest work, using our own legal system to place scales over our vision, subverting what is morally and ethically right. Social justice is the venomous serpent of death, slithering about our society, nesting and striking us within our faith communities, workplace and politics. Our Savior promises to be with us at all times, but we must invite Him into our lives for Him to restore us to His blessings and abundance. We need to pray for forgiveness and His Divine intervention before casting our ballot in this bellwether election. Pray for a Divine miracle of biblical proportions! Our nation’s deficit, debt, employment, taxes, entitlement challenges, hypocritical party politics, etc., are symptoms of our illness, not our primary illness. Just as a chiropractor treats a patient’s spine to relieve pressures throughout the rest of a patient’s body, by finding and treating our spiritual spine, we can begin the long road back to our nation’s recovery, but it will not be without considerable pain. This election is an opportunity for us to take a stand against the Obama/Pelosi/Reid blitzkrieg targeted at the people these ‘leaders’ have sworn an oath to serve. This Axis says it is the GOP who brought us to our pending demise; the GOP counters that is has been the Democrats who have done so. The truth is, all of us have had a hand on the wheel, and it is time to regain control of a car careening towards a precipitous cliff. If politicians are willing to abdicate their oath of office for person gain, is there any question that they will do whatever they want with impunity, protected by their peers in office? Freedom comes with responsibility. Politicians are great at using our children to infuse guilt in order to extract taxes to fund their agendas and grandiose delusions, and many of us are blind to this reality. Our legacy will be the country we turn over to our children, and the subject of stories and folklore of future generations. What will the topic of conversations of future generations be; our rejection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our resulting, calamitous misfortunes, or will our faith and selflessness have paved the way towards a return of our blessings for future generations and ourselves? Carpe Diem!
