Arkansas has been named the most pro-life state in the nation for the seventh year in a row, according to Americans United for Life’s annual Life List.
The ranking was announced Wednesday with Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Americans United for Life scores all 50 states on their protections for life in law across bioethical issues from conception to natural death, not solely abortion. Louisiana ranked second.
“I’m incredibly proud that Arkansas is ranked the most pro-life state in the nation for the seventh year in a row,” Gov. Sanders said. “Every life is a gift from our Creator, made in His image, and is worth defending. As Governor, I will continue fighting for every Arkansan, at every stage of life, and make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life, said the ranking reflects sustained partnership and leadership. ---More...
2,000 People Sign Petition Demanding Cupich Rescind Pro-Abortion Award
The protest against a decision by Cardinal Blase Cupich to give an award to an ardent abortion activist continues and now over 2,000 people have signed a petition against it.
The petition calls the Catholic leader to reverse his decision to honor a major donor to abortion causes.
The petition targets the Archdiocese of Chicago’s plan to present its Nostra Aetate Award to Michael Sacks, chairman and CEO of GCM Grosvenor, at the annual Seminary Salutes Rerum Novarum banquet on Thursday, Oct. 29, at IBEW Local 134 in Chicago. The event raises funds for the formation of future priests, with Cupich and seminary rector the Very Rev. John Kartje listed as hosts.
Illinois Right to Life has pointed to records showing approximately $1.1 million in support from Sacks for abortion-related causes since 2020, including $500,000 from the Sacks Family Foundation to Planned Parenthood of Illinois between 2020 and 2022 and a $600,000 contribution toward an initiative that benefited Planned Parenthood of Illinois and the Chicago Abortion Fund. ---More...
Charges Dropped Against Woman Who Left Her Premature Baby in the Toilet
Charges have been dropped against a North Carolina woman who left her premature 31-week-old baby in a toilet.
The Durham County District Attorney’s Office has dropped all charges against a Durham woman and the father of her child after first responders found their prematurely born baby in a toilet. She had taken the abortion pill well past the time period when it’s normally used.
Syesiha Johnson, 18, and Elijah Speight, 19, both of Durham, had been charged after the July 29 incident. Johnson faced charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, and assault inflicting serious bodily injury on an unborn child. Speight was charged with negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Court documents did not explain pro-abortion District Attorney Satana Deberry’s decision not to prosecute, though they referenced a memorandum that was not available. ---More...
Third Pro-Life Group Condemns Cupich Award to Abortion Activist
A third pro-life group has come forward with criticism of Cardinal Blasé Cupich and his decision to give an award to a radical abortion activist.
CatholicVote President and CEO Kelsey Reinhardt urged Cardinal Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, to reconsider his plan to honor pro-abortion businessman Michael Sacks at an Oct. 29 seminary fundraiser.
The opposition is based on Sacks giving over $1 million to groups that kill babies in abortions or facilitate abortions.
“The U.S. bishops have taught that Catholic institutions should not give ‘awards, honors or platforms’ to those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles,” Reinhardt said in a statement to Zeale News. “Yet on Thursday, Cardinal Cupich will present the Archdiocese’s Nostra Aetate Award to Michael J. Sacks, who has been reported as giving $600,000 to expand abortion access in Illinois.”
Reinhardt said the award was hypocritical because its given at the same time the Catholic Church is training “the young men who will one day preach the Gospel of Life.” ---More...
Democrats Controlling Senate Committees Would Kill the Pro-Life Agenda
There is no “sitting out” this election for pro-life people.
Aside from the 250 Victories for People of Faith, all of which help our movement to protect the unborn, there are numerous implications for the pro-life movement when one starts to consider the powers and responsibilities of the people we elect.
If you were asked who is currently the Surgeon General of the United States, the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Commissioner of the IRS, you would rightly be hard-pressed to give an answer.
That’s because all three positions are vacant.
The President selects the people to fill these positions, and in each case, the US Senate confirms them.
The confirmation process involves hearings in front of the relevant committees, who then vote on whether or not to let the nomination proceed to a full vote of the Senate. ---More...
