Arms Trade Treaty

There is something very wrong when the United Nations is trying to pass an Arms Trade Treaty, which would regulate the sale of conventional weapons. The meeting to be held in July of this year gives the United Nations oversight of international weapons trade in an attempt to disarm the bad guys.

If it wasn't such a blatant abdication of our sovereignty and 2nd amendment rights I might be tempted to encourage participation. Perhaps the UN could accomplish what our own government can't -- or won't -- make Attorney General Eric Holder accountable and prevent him from letting guns get into the hands of the Mexican Drug Cartels, only to be used against our own citizens. Really, think about it; our government lets Holder have free rein without accountability, yet it will consider handing another of our freedoms to the UN. Perhaps if we were more vigilant and responsible to our citizens, who have been begging for Holder to be ousted, we wouldn't need the United Nations policing us. This is a very bad idea. I, for one, don't want China, Venezuela, Syria, Kenya or others telling this country what it can and cannot do. We need to clean up our own house before we try to clean up others. That includes removing from power those who would so willingly allow the rest of the world to set United States policy. Mrs. Carolyn Brown Englewood, FL
