You’d think the parents of troops serving in Iraq could count on a break from Cindy Sheehan on the first day of the New Year, but thanks to the White Rose Coalition, Sheehan will be front and center at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. “Local and national pro-impeachment and pro-Peace American citizens will stage non-violent protests and demonstrations throughout the Rose Parade on Tuesday, 0/01/08, New Year’s Day with support from Cindy Sheehan and the Camp Casey Peace Institute.” (9/11TruthLA, Nov. 28, 2007).

“The convergence of activists is called the White Rose Coalition, in honor of the resistance movement in Munich in 1942. It includes members of the Los Angeles Impeachment Center (LANIC), CODEPINK, Troops Out Now Coalition, World Can’t Wait, ANSWER, Progressive Democrats of America, the Green Party, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice, and others.” The groups still calling for impeaching George W. Bush and Dick Cheney “for high crimes and misdemeanors, and to end the U.S. occupation of Iraq,” don’t seem to get it. The Dems have still not been able to pull it off—even though Rep. Dennis Kucinich (OH) has sponsored two resolutions in Congress to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney with H. Res. 333 and H. Res. 799. According to 9/11 TruthLA, Kucinich is drafting an extended version relating to President Bush. “The patriots gathered on 01/01/08 will be sending a strong pro-impeachment and pro-Peace message to this Administration about in opposition to the continuing occupation of Iraq and the growing pressure by Cheney and others to bomb Iran.” “This administration has shredded Constitutional protections and is now apparently planning another illegal military strike, this time to bomb Iran,” says Cynthia Mather, a spokesperson for LANIC. “The consequences of such an assault on global well being and security would be catastrophic,” she said. “Congress is obligated to act before it is too late. But the Democrats are not making any move to stop it, so impeachment is our only resource.” If the Dems won’t do it, are the anti-war groups expecting Bush and Cheney to step down from their posts voluntarily? According to the groups, “It’s not too late to demand accountability. “Millions of eyes around the world are watching and waiting for US citizens to make this “democratic” government account for its actions. Nixon and Clinton were impeached in only a few months for far less crimes.” They could have easily added especially al Qaeda. Nixon and Clinton may have been impeached in only a few months for far less crimes. Nixon may be dead, but impeachment didn’t much impact Clinton, as he’s out on the presidential hustings promoting his wife. Impeached or not, Clinton will be back in the White House if Hillary wins. The activist groups want the president and vice president put on trial for: “Condoning torture/constricting constitutional rights; Lying about WMDs and al-Qaeda-Iraq connection; Secret wiretapping/spying on American citizens; Killing over 1.1 million Iraqi civilians/4,000 US troops; Over $570 billion debt (and counting) for illegal invasion of Iraq alone. $1 trillion plus since 2002 for other military acts.” Group leaders say they cannot gauge how many will show up at the Rose Parade, but point out that according to the latest MSNBC poll, of 584,000 people asked if they thought Bush had committed impeachable offenses, 89 percent said yes! “There is a tremendous level of anger and frustration out there. I doubt if our politicians in Washington D.C. have any idea of just how much.” And there’s a lot of anger out there, too against what troop-loving Americans call the “Moonbats”. Meanwhile, American patriots get no break from Cindy Sheehan.
