Ban Television not Guns

Ban Television not Guns On the peaceful drive home from Santa Fe, going the back way up through the San Luis Valley to Colorado Springs, I caught an AM radio program that was wafting in and out from some town in the southwestern United States. The sun was setting. I was alone on the highway. And the saged prairies dotted with dark juniper cedar trees were rolling by in front of high mountains covered in pine. Anyone who's made that trip will understand the awesome solemnity which accompanies that beautiful scenery. The scratchy radio was a live presentation from some college alumni gathering of heavy-brained academicians who met every Sunday evening somewhere on the West Coast. I didn't catch any of those particulars. Nevertheless the speaker was a brilliant old man - whose name, sadly, I will never know. This was years back when speakers at college campuses had no fear of bratty protesters who refused to behave themselves. And there was certainly not the slightest possibility of any physical uprisings from anyone who might have disagreed with the speaker's point of view or his candor in expressing it.

I then had no idea - not a clue - of how terminally sick our homeland really was

The elderly gentleman addressed an intensely hushed, listening audience about the ever-looming possibility of a constitutional convention - its happening and the terrible consequences of its revisions. The wizened speaker spent the entire thirty minutes carefully bringing his audience to the place where they could fully understand the payload of his speech which he would deliver in just a couple of simple sentences. I will never forget the gist of his conclusion… "Our Constitution can be compared to the delicate, crowning achievement of the cream of God-gifted watchmakers. The near-perfectly balanced mechanism they left us is a piece of unprecedented grace. And I am most certain that the calibre of people needed to significantly amend or much service their work can no longer be found." The balance of his close was nothing short of a warning. He, of course borrowed from the wisdom of God's word. And, to me, the most notable of that was Solomon's admonition against removing the landmarks wisely set in place by the fathers. (Proverbs 22:28) In other words, you absolutely shouldn't mess with things that mightier and more experienced people, those closer to the foundation which even Jesus had laid and then himself walked upon, had so carefully planned and built for the benefit and safety of the progeny they were, in obedient faith, thereby loving. When the echo of the speaker's last words had fully rested in that huge auditorium, you could hear people springing out of their chairs in a standing ovation. The words of the program's moderator could barely be distinguished over the applause and shouts of those who had heard and agreed with all that had been said. When the program closed, my New Mexico sunset had waned into orange and purple and was beautifully yielding to a starry indigo sky. That weakening radio signal finally completely vanished. My headlights were on, and I was still alone on the two-lane highway. That hallowed setting had driven home the seriousness of what that nameless old man had just said: I looked around me and saw that I was indeed in the America that he and our national anthem so tenderly described. At that moment I more fully realized that it was our forefathers' gift through that very same Constitution that allowed me to amble along any highway I wanted, at any hour, without any permission or any paperwork other than the license (and insurance) required to help certify the safety of myself and others. At the time, this was in the cool autumn of a year in the early 1980s. I then had no idea - not a clue - of how terminally sick our homeland really was and how its then hidden symptoms would become so manifest in the years that would fly by.

We have been lulled into a sleep

Okay, so nearly forty years have flown. And today we have a nation turned on its beamends - totally flipped upside down. Our sweet country that was originally designed to provide a safe environment for real, law-abiding, genuine citizen, 'dream chasers' has become saturated with the progeny of people who generally define 'parenting' as a purely biological effort - mostly just in the act of conception - often times even still including minimal or mandatory feeding and clothing of those offspring. As I have said in lots of other articles, television is the real mentoring, babysitting parent in a plurality of 21st century American homes. And that droning pulpit is entirely to credit for the appearance of self-styled prodigy 'champions' like the anti-gun kid from Broward County, David Hogg. David has currently earned 'god status' with a tv-addicted following because the tv has taught him how to present himself to that audience. Presentation is everything. That's not just a saying. It's entirely why we had eight years of our first and worst black president (for crying out loud). Shifting gears for a moment, consider that forty years ago it would be nearly impossible to find more than a handful of people, nationally, who would actually surrender themselves to a computer-driven taxi ride. And today, forty years later, in the brave new world of lazy, mush-brained, cyber-saturated 'adults', you would have to search to find the unusually thoughtful and attentive crowd of people who would very much object to the idea. For the benefit of many of my readers, I will explain the obvious danger of the gamble involved with the world full of computerized cars: When anything 'totally unforseen' - ranging from a crucial power failure or even an unexpected magnetic interference, to a microcircuit corruption or programming glitch - might happen, you will have dead people as a result. I don't care how many millions of dollars of studies an exotic automotive industry might produce to justify making and marketing such insanity. The ONLY reason the auto-piloted car has made it off the drawing board to the point of "accidentally" killing someone is the unprecedentedly singular appearance of the same stupid mindset which has numbed millions of people into giving groveling respect to a 17-year-old leading the charge to dismantle our Second Amendment. We have been dramatized and romanced into no longer using our heads. We have been lulled into a sleep which has fatally crippled our ability to discern the difference between that which is real genius and that which is simply well presented, grand-sounding nonsense. I watched the girl from David's high school, during the big walkout, whimpering as she scolded her schoolmates for not being nicer to the spoiled-rotten butcher who threw a tantrum and killed seventeen including fellow students. Did I disagree with her exhorting her friends to being kinder to each other? Of course not. But it was not any of the school bullies who programmed the shooter to do that rampage. It was in fact the fault of wholesale evil and unchecked godless influences, apart from any consistently loving and genuine Christian interference, that built that monster. And the powerful people who had furnished the microphones and cameras for the walkout that day sat silently and triumphantly watching as a young girl pushed all the right buttons and turned all the right knobs to further numb the thinking of a burgeoning crowd of grown people who today look to brain trusts like Joy Behar and Whoopie Goldberg to pronounce judgment and condemnation on our beautiful Constitution and the president we hired to revive and defend that. (Cue the retired, leftist Supreme Court justice who follows up the media-fired high school walkouts suggesting a veto of the Second Amendment. Indeed, satan is in his heyday! Our school kids are serving nicely as the giddy left's most unnoticeable Red Guard!)

Freezing iciness of the subtlety and virtual invisibility of all of our absolutely deadly battles makes the Cold War of the 50s-60s look like a scavenger hunt at a scout camp

Currently our nation is at war on many fronts. And the freezing iciness of the subtlety and virtual invisibility of all of our absolutely deadly battles makes the Cold War of the 50s-60s look like a scavenger hunt at a scout camp. With the world's highest percentage of gun ownership being in our country, the powers that want-to-be know that enforcing their brand of socialism on resistant Americans is going to be nigh unto impossible as long as we are armed. No, this is not at all to be compared to Hitler's rise to power in the 30s-40s. Hitler, unlike our professional politicians, wasn't in bed with his nation's entertainment/media empires. He owned the media, outright. Hitler didn't have anywhere near the speedbump the left is facing in establishing its takeover. His beloved propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, was doing baby steps in comparison to the elegant satanic artistry of our contemporary Western entertainment/tv media empires. And the constantly vilified President Donald J. Trump, currently fighting ALL of that treachery, is truly our Churchill. When I was listening to that radio broadcast in New Mexico, if I had known that there was soon coming a day when America would face the danger of disappearing into a crowd of morons who simply could breed faster than the thinkers, I know I would have wept and prayed a lot harder than I have over the silliness that has brought us here. I had no clue that there would be coming the madness of a 9/11, Benghazi, or a 'cool' black president and his wife who would revive race hate to an unprecedented pitch in this nation. I am shocked to have watched all the then unthinkable components surface and jelly the minds of our citizenry to the point that America has actually become a major cradle of the people who will, " ... (no longer) put up with sound doctrine. (But) Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." (II Timothy 4;3-4 NIV) Just like the frog that rests comfortably in a pot of warming water as the temperature is increased only a single degree every few minutes, our nation - formerly the most free and powerful and wonderful on earth - has lost sight of the frightening contrast that could save us from being cooked alive. Mark my words ... If the left ever gets another foothold in our land (and I believe they may) we will NEVER see our liberties or safety ever again.
