Bill Kristol- Conservative Editor of The Weekly Standard Shoots Himself in Both Feet over Trump

Oh Bill, Bill, what are you thinking? And what are you doing? It seems you have really lost it this time, my man. Ever since Donald Trump started winning Republican primaries, Kristol and his fellow travelers on The Weekly Standard have been writing numerous anti-Trump tirades. But the more they fulminate against Trump - tear their hair out and beat their blue-suited breasts - the more Trump keeps... winning. And keeps getting stronger and stronger and more popular with an ever growing Republican populist base.
I have to admit it has been enormously amusing to watch these GOP fat cat, puffed up pundits humiliate themselves publicly. Day after day. Week after week. They don’t get Trump. They don’t understand his populist appeal. They don’t know or understand the millions and millions of average working class Americans who are supporting Trump. They also don’t realize that their time has passed. From powerful Bush advisers and confidantes, within a decade they have become extinct political dinosaurs.

Instead of focusing his efforts on the scandal-riddled, mendacious Hillary Clinton, considered the most untrustworthy public official ever to run for the American presidency, Kristol and his right wing lunatic lackeys are spending most of their time trying to devise anti-democratic schemes to wrest the nomination from Trump in a so-called brokered GOP convention. And if that ridiculous effort fails (ya think?), Kristol wants to engineer the creation of an independent third party candidate specifically to hurt Trump’s chances of winning the presidency. Bill, as your former Harvard classmate at Harvard I must confess that I did admire, on occasion, your political courage as a young Republican in a predominantly liberal/democratic Harvard. And you have certainly made a name for yourself until now, as an influential conservative pundit and commentator. But, Bill, are you friggin nuts? There is no way in hell that Trump supporters, who will be delegates at the GOP convention will leave Trump after the first ballot and vote for a Washington-based GOP establishment political hack like Ryan or a clueless, politically tone-deaf Romney parachuted in to supposedly save the day.

Trump’s populist support is rock-solid, primal, visceral and emotional. Trump’s people are not going anywhere. They will stick with him throughout the convention, if required. This support is reminiscent of the rock-solid and immovable support that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford enjoyed, notwithstanding Ford was a recipient of over-the-top and often irrational media opposition. Both nation-wide and world-wide. Yet Ford’s support never wavered. Never bent. Trump’s support – just the same. Now Kristol has floated the ridiculous trial balloon of encouraging some idiot to run as a independent third party candidate, a la Ross Perot. Kristol approached former Texas governor Rick Perry, who to his credit turned Kristol down. Period. Trump has gone on Sunday talk shows and criticized this move as a recipe for GOP disaster and a scheme that will guarantee the election of the hated Hillary. Fortunately, the Republican National Committee, seeing the writing on the wall, has publicly condemned Kristol’s third party scheme as just helping Hillary. Though a fiscal conservative, I am an anti-establishment, you-know-what disturber at heart. I love the sight of puffed up, over-rated, conservative and liberal pundits, being hoisted on their own petards. Trump More Years.
