Black Safety in This Era of 'Blue' (Police) Defunding

Part of what I call my "safety creation theory" involves passing the baton of probable cause to police officers for action.

Black safety in this era of 'blue' (police) defunding makes that baton pass prone to being pushed away or dropped as gale force political winds knock it out of officers' grasp.

Liberal refusal to adequately charge, prosecute and convict career criminals has led to a boom in violent crime, theft and burglaries accompanying a bust in police manpower and motivation to do the job.

For years I've combated policies and unofficial postures making officers and police executives look like they're either too scared or too disinterested to do their jobs.

Public confidence, even among crime-weary leftists, in so-called police reform is plummeting, along with deepened disdain for lax law enforcement trying to please progressive politicians who run their departments.

The net result for unsafe urban communities and safety advocates for those like myself is a politically enabled siege where the body count and dollars lost are astronomical.

We're awash in felons with high self esteem and low impulse control--with predictable results. Store clerks face aggressive shoplifters and public spaces (downtown areas, bars, music venues, restaurants, etc.) resemble correctional facility tiers filled with loud, angry customers anxious to threaten, fight or shoot in displays of ghetto egotism, aided and abetted by politicians and policy makers under the delusion that not incarcerating such menaces makes society safer.

Even with some progressive politicians and many terrified Democratic voters pushing back on policies creating this siege, I fear their ideology has done its job too well.

We have several urban generations with a significant center more akin to American versions of juvenile combatants seen in Africa ('small boy units'), the Caribbean and South America than Black people born here from preceding decades who weren't mass producing engines of destruction.

A moratorium on crime enabling policies still leaves my community and this nation with a plurality of young people who refuse to respect boundaries and reflexively assault anyone interferring with whatever unacceptable behavior in which they're engaged.

While these policies must end, we mustn't conflate their ending with cessation of hostilities in our cities. That is the next step and it promises to be an exhausting one.

The silenced (no typo) majority of safety-loving Black people have our work cut out for us. What we don't do regarding this issue simply won't get done. It is a 50-year journey to reestablish a more secure community.

Black safety in this era of 'blue' (police) defunding will remain tenuous in the meantime.

No Giver Should Ever Be “Nearly Giving Up On Everything”

In the signature humble style of ‘little guy hero’, Nadra Enzi, aka “Cap”, (TheCaptainBlack), comes this straight-to-the-heart humble appeal for help:“You’re more than welcome to share economic energy with me because honestly, I've nearly given up on everything!”

Scarcely able to keep up with Rent, Food & Monthly Bills, Nadra is trying to raise $18,000 in a last-ditch GoFundMe effort.
