Bogus sequestration cuts

The money, the news coverage, the opinion pieces, the energy being squandered on the bogus sequestration cuts would be laughable if it weren't so maddening.

There is no thinking person who believes there is not much more than 10% bloat in every single area of government. In addition, annual budgets have built in increases so that government can grow or maintain without the slightest effort, so cutting 10% simply limits the growth this year. It is a great ploy to cite the most important services to try to scare us into compliance. It is done all the time. We must stop buying into these tactics. The gnashing of teeth and rattling of sabers has much more to do with protecting the government control than it does about the impact of the reduced revenue. These are not cuts. Oh, we are being threatened by the dire consequences of the sequester, but in fact belts will be tightened and business will go on as usual. If you don't believe it, talk to local business owners who have been forced to do more with less. Stewart Andersen Englewood, FL
