Bongo Bongo MEP hits the nail on head! British Mainstream Press seeks to ‘Palinize’ him!

Godfrey Bloom is a man with a solid pedigree in the financial world and nine years ago he was elected to the European Parliament as a member of the UK Independence Party, a growing offshoot of conservatives who want to protect traditional Britain, stop wholesale immigration, and withdraw from the EU.

As a speaker Bloom’s talents would not be lost on American talk radio though they would quickly get him censured in Britain. And it is his spoken words that the mainstream British press is getting all in a flap about. Bloom is best known at the present for his infamous ‘bongo bongo’ comment. While speaking in his constituency earlier this year he said "How we can possibly be giving a billion pounds a month when we're in this sort of debt to bongo bongo land is completely beyond me. To buy Ray-Ban sunglasses, apartments in Paris, Ferraris and all the rest of it that goes with most of the foreign aid. F18s for Pakistan. We need a new squadron of F18s. Who's got the squadrons? Pakistan, where we send the money." Many of his constituents get this which is why he’s already been re-elected once in the normally left leaning England north of the Home Counties. But the press who are well aligned either with the Tories or Labour couldn’t wait to pounce. The comments were immediately branded as racist with the predictable cries for his resignation following.

But Bloom, like notable American Republican Sarah Palin is unmoved by criticism and continues to attack political correctness with a sabre and a mallet. They both understand that bowing to conformity means compromising the truth and subsequently push on. Sky News got in on the character assassination act this week following Bloom’s written piece – ‘Lets face it men and women are different’ on politics.co.uk. When you read the whole thing it makes a lot of sense as he demonstrates why hiring quotas for women are bad because it eliminates both competition and merit. This is underscored by his examples of gender differences (as well as cultural differences) in an argument for merit based selection. He made the following statements that have Sky outraged. “Most women can find the mustard in the pantry quicker than a man and most men can reverse a car better than a woman. Most wives do not regard putting petrol in the car as any part of their responsibility. Men cannot see the point in making the bed if you are going to get back in it tonight. (20th Century feminists were) shrill, bored, middle class women of a certain physical genre; (their male supporters were) slightly effete, politically correct chaps who get sand kicked in their face in the beach". The problem we’ve reached in society is the fact that these general truths are considered off limits. Confronting any sort of indiscretion is considered incorrect behavior that offends the person who was wrong in the first place. What leads the outrage? It seems we can be critical of men all we want but criticize women and you're sexist, even if it’s true. Likewise the ‘bongo bongo’ comment would have been insignificant if he’d insulted the French, would have drawn frowns if it were the Chinese, and would have been applauded if he’d said something about ‘those damn yanks.’ Instead we see UKIP treasurer Stuart Wheeler in hot water for saying that women are "nowhere near as good as men" at games like chess, bridge and poker. This doesn’t mean that women can’t do these things but the world’s top players are mostly all men. International chess created separate women’s competitions for this very reason. How are women more talented in the intellectual area? Management expert Jay Forte told the New York Daily News, "It's a very service-oriented economy [right now], so you need employees to be motivated. Women are better connectors than men and more astute about knowing how to activate passion in their employees." – And that’s just one example! The political classes use the statements of Bloom as an example of how he and UKIP in general are unfit for electoral leadership when in fact it is this kind of honesty that is exactly what is needed. We need to be honest about being different instead of trying to create equality where it doesn’t naturally exist. We also need to be able to confront political correctness at all levels. Bloom should have been applauded for his comments about the F18’s. Pakistan is a very complicated country and good relational channels need to be cultivated but western powers are arming them to the teeth while Britain faces a gap in it aircraft carrier capability with Spain and Argentina making overtures towards their territories. Instead we discover that the PC crowd is in fact very selective! Both the current Cabinet and the official Opposition in the UK will happily dispense with the truth in order to score some political points. This demonstrates they are enslaved to the idea of remaining in power with political ideology only advanced when it is deemed safe to do so – and even then Cameron’s crowd can’t get it right. Women will always be less involved in the workplace than men because of the unavoidable biology of child-bearing and the natural feminine instincts to care for the children first. What drives the push back against this is an insatiable desire for power and control spurred on by personal insecurity. Until we can have that conversation without political labels we will remain bound by those who believe that all outcomes can and should be equal.
