Yesterday on November 4, the fifth anniversary of the election of Senator Barack Obama as USA President, passed without much notice.
Memories of the fateful night of November 4, 2008, are indelible for untold millions. Canada Free Press, in touch with so many fighting the good fight up to Election was deluged with emails from down-at-heart patriots, many of whom said they were going to give up. During a late-night walk, my prayers asked that not a single down-hearted patriot among the email senders would give up, never giving up being my motto then and now. Time would prove that none of the patriots discouraged by the election of the most anti-American president in history, ever gave up. Instead they went on to fight the good fight, surviving even Obama’s reelection on November 6, 2012.

The timing of the arrival of a magazine called St. Mary’s Messenger yesterday was special to me. Editor Kris Weipert had kindly included excerpts from my August 15, 2011 story Chicago’s Rosary in the Sky in the remarkable magazine. Kris had written seeking permission to include the story of the Rosary in the Sky months ago, and after agreeing to the story’s inclusion, I had forgotten about it. “On August 14, 2011, 20 elementary-school aged girls and their counselors participated in a summer camp endeavor at a Chicago Catholic Parish.” (Canada Free Press, August 15, 2011). “They launched their yellow balloon, a 75-foot handmade rosary skyward from Chicago’s Michigan Avenue bridge claiming the Magnificent Mile for Mary. They had to carry their rosary, cross-first, through downtown Chicago’s peak traffic. “The reaction... “Homeless people gave high fives. “Street preachers burst into the singing of Gospel songs. “Semi-truck drivers shook the streets sounding their truck horns in approval. “A passerby tweeted, “A balloon rosary in the air. My faith confirmed:)” “The 6-foot gold cross sparkled in the sunlight. “The 75-foot rosary of helium-filled yellow balloons bearing the word LIFE floated down Michigan Avenue over the Hancock Tower. “Cameras and cellphones flew into action as people responded to the unexpected sight. “Trustingly, the girls had first prayed the rosary with all the fervour of school children, for an end to abortion. Brother Joshua Caswell, who had originally sent the story of the floating rosary to CFP, described the rosary over Chicago as “the latest of a series of spontaneous acts of joy across the United States involving the yellow LIFE balloons. “It was probably one of the most glorious sights I had ever witnessed,” added Br. Chad of St. John Cantius. The courageous school girls won the admiration of passing strangers with their 75-foot rosary sent skyward and floated heartfelt hope for the most vulnerable over Chicago skies. Some would say that the story of “Chicago’s Rosary in the Sky” lives on and that their yellow balloons of LIFE are fixtures that linger forever over Chicago’s famous skyline.
