China's interference and the economy - is there a connection?

Thought of the Day - As Canadians grapple with dire financial times and the thought of China interfering with the 2019 and 2021 elections, could there be a connection behind our failing economy? This may be something that all Canadians should be asking, shouldn’t it?

In 2013 the then Liberal Leader, our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, was quoted as saying:

There’s a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say, ‘We need to go green … we need to start investing in solar.’”[1]

Canadians facing now – the “Just Transition,” added carbon taxes that harm our economy and cause inflation; job losses

And what are Canadians facing now – the “Just Transition,” added carbon taxes that harm our economy and cause inflation; job losses with only a elected official’s promise of new jobs; lack of housing; unconstitutional statements by the Attorney General;[2] etc., etc., etc. The “Just Transition” is even a major part of the last Liberal Budget, and yet our Defence, from foreign hostiles, wasn’t even a whisper…Hmmmmm could make a person wonder, couldn’t it

As we are also facing dire situations with interference from China and according to CSIS and the Globe and Mail, “Beijing also wanted to keep Mr. Trudeau’s power in check – with a second Liberal minority in Parliament as the ideal outcome.”[3] But then Beijing would know that the Liberal minority would have to have to support of the NDP to remain in power. Anyone following Canadian politics would know this.

And what of the NDP. They, in conjunction with the Conservatives are demanding a Public Inquiry. What will that inquiry garner? Not much of anything because as “Katie Telford, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's top adviser,” stated in her testimony at the House Affairs Committee, she had to “repeatedly tell committee members she couldn't comment on sensitive intelligence matters.”[4]

As for the NDP – this is the party that everyone should be watching – not to throw their support behind, but with how they are dealing with the China interference, the economy and the spending they want government to do – including tax hikes that harm the bottom line of the majority of Canadians.

As Canadians grapple with dire financial times and the thought of China interfering with the 2019 and 2021 elections, could there be a connection behind our failing economy?

The NDP, at one time was the socialist (to some communist) party of Canada. That said the NDP are also the authors of the “Leap Manifesto.” What is curious is they are the party of which Beijing would look to support the Liberal minority and they are also the party that would use terms like “new iron law” and “no longer an excuse for building new infrastructure projects that lock us into increased extraction decades into the future.”[5]

One should be very concerned when any political party uses “new iron law” without any reasonable avenue to support Canadians and, to put it simply, isn’t it a bit like lemmings who leap off cliffs, maybe not to their death, but merely to mindlessly follow a crowd to their own detriment?

As Canadians grapple with dire financial times and the thought of China interfering with the 2019 and 2021 elections, could there be a connection behind our failing economy? This may be something that all Canadians should be asking, shouldn’t it?
