“It does us no good to have an investigation that just gives us more cover,” Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake told hundreds of young people at the Forbes Under 30 Summit. “…The 55-year-old Republican, who is retiring from the Senate at the end of the year, has already declared his interest in a possible 2020 presidential bid — as a Republican or an independent — in part to stop Trump from winning a second term.”In reality Flake’s hinted 2020 presidential bid has nothing to do with stopping Trump from winning a second term, but everything to do with a narcissist imposing himself on voters as a largely unwanted presidential candidate. “He told CBS’ “60 Minutes” on Sunday that the conservative judge’s nomination would be “over” if federal investigators determine he lied to the committee. (NYT, Oct. 1, 2018) Interesting to note that in that regard Flake and Fox News’ senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano are on the same page: “Napolitano said Monday on America's Newsroom that Brett Kavanaugh's denial of heavy drinking could be "perilous" if evidence is found to contradict him. (Fox News, Oct. 1, 2018)
“The FBI probe into the sexual misconduct claims against Kavanaugh, the Fox News senior judicial analyst said, is also perilous."Notice how quickly sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh are now relegated to the “ALSO” category?
“He (Napolitano) agreed with former FBI Director James Comey's op-ed that said there shouldn't be a "shot clock" on the bureau's investigation. (Fox)
“Flake has been putting him to good use as a political prop and general useful idiot.” " Politico reports:“In Susan Collins’ third-floor office in the Capitol, she and her Republican colleagues Jeff Flake of Arizona and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska — joined by Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia — agreed they had the power to make or break Kavanaugh. And without settling on precise details, they decided to use their leverage to insist on a process that would allow them to reach a comfort level with Kavanaugh’s confirmation process and seek more information, rather than to kill his Supreme Court nomination outright, according to two people familiar with the meeting. “What resulted on Friday afternoon threw Washington into chaos and guaranteed another week of uncertainty and suspense surrounding Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Just hours after Flake endorsed Kavanaugh and seemed to put him on a path to the high court, the Arizonan said he first wanted a week-long FBI investigation into Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that the judge assaulted her. It was a victory for Democrats who’d been demanding such a probe, to no avail, and promises to define the retiring Flake’s legacy as someone who refused to let Kavanaugh get a vote while under a cloud of doubt. “. . . . But the Flake-led rebellion, however long it lasts, had been building for nearly two weeks. “Though Murkowski, Collins and Manchin all endorsed the FBI investigation on Friday, Flake needed another partner to pull off his move because none of them serves on the Judiciary Committee. So Flake, who’s been mocked for writing a book blasting the Trump presidency only to vote for his agenda, teamed up with a Democrat. “Sen. Chris # (D-Del.) has spent his eight-year Senate career making earnest attempts to build relationships with Republicans, at times to liberals’ annoyance. He and Flake have taken trips around the world together as part of their duties. And on Friday afternoon, with a Supreme Court seat on the line, it all paid off. “#, who appears to be a hapless victim of Flake’s skullduggery, was then blindsided by Flake’s announcement that he was insisting on a further delay and investigation.
“Politico continues:Flake, whose record on the senate comes from doing nothing, has become the quintessential legend in his own mind. “He’s the Abraham Lincoln of our times,” popular radio talk show host Mark Levin, sarcastically said on his last night show. With drama bringing up the rear, the 11th-hour Flake Act comes complete with threats on the senator’s life: “Organizers of the Boston event said they moved the location to City Hall after security concerns emerged about the original location. “Hundreds of liberal protesters, victims of sexual assault among them, pleaded with Flake to block Kavanaugh’s nomination outside the venue. (VOA, Oct. 1, 2018)“# and Flake vacated the Judiciary Committee shortly before the panel was expected to vote to advance Kavanaugh, a seemingly innocuous moment that left onlookers increasingly bewildered as more senators joined them in the back room. “They returned minutes later with a deal that forced GOP leaders to bow to the minority’s demand for an FBI probe, delaying the confirmation for as much as a week.“I did not expect him to do this today,” # said of Flake, speaking for nearly everyone in official Washington.”
“New York congressional candidate Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez warned Flake and other elected leaders that voters would end their careers should they support Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. “We are going to keep pushing because justice in America is not just about protecting the powerful,” Ocasio-Cortez charged. “It is about uplifting the voices that have been victimized.”
“I guess I want to say, ’Thank you,’” Walsh said. “But that’s your job. That’s your job to vet the nominee.” “The true test for Flake would come once the full Senate votes on the Kavanaugh nomination in the coming days, Walsh said. “He has an opportunity to do something very special at some point next week,” the mayor said.”If Flake is successful, that “something special” will be the ruin of America by having thrown Due Process and the Rule of Law out the window. Thanks to Flake and Senators Collins and Murkowski, anyone, at anytime, can take down all enemies with uncorroborated sexual assault allegations. Maxine Waters is getting her pom-poms ready for the completion of what Democrats see as the unbeatable Ford-Flake narrative : “Misogynist Donald Trump is trying to nominate a disgusting drunk for the Supreme Court” and both deserve Impeachment’. Call it what you want, but that’s the real goal of the ‘Ford-Flake Search and Destroy Mission’.
