Christmas, 2023. Let us be thankful for what we have. Or at least what we had, because we are losing everything. I believe in American exceptionalism. The United States was a country of unprecedented opportunity, unprecedented economic wealth, unprecedented freedom. It stood for human dignity and individualism.
What were the roots of American exceptionalism? It was founded by people who were largely religious, however because of the multitude of religions no official religion could be established. The United States was founded relatively recently, after the birth of the Enlightenment, so it could take the best of the mother European cultures while avoiding the worst. It did not have to emerge from a history of totalitarian kings and an oppressive church.
We have heard debates about whether the United States was founded on Christian values or whether it was founded on enlightenment values. While the fact of the matter is not only was it founded on both, it was precisely because it was founded on the blending of both, that American exceptionalism emerged. It was a country of strong Christian values. Yet where religion did not trample on freedom, both personal and economic, or on science.
The survival of everything of value, namely science, humanism, in the classical not the woke sense, freedom, individualism, requires not that science drive out religion or religion drive out science, but a Judeo-Christianity which combines the best of traditional values with an appreciation of the rights of man and freedom. This was until recently the de facto situation in the United States. And perhaps ironically, today some of the most passionate defenders of the enlightenment values of freedom and human dignity are conservative Christians, while “secular humanists” support censorship, speech codes, totalitarianism and terrorism.
Intelligence exists, it can be measured and is almost totally genetic. Males and females differ biologically. Capitalism produces freedom and economic wealth while socialism produces slavery and starvation. White male Western civilization was the only civilization that ever condemned slavery. These are all incontrovertible truths that are forbidden to be expressed today.
The great enrichment, In the West and in only the West, was produced by the Enlightenment allowing for freedom of speech and writing, and so free enterprise. Today the great poveritization is being produced by Woke, BLM and Islam, by socialism and cancel culture.
There is an evolved human nature. Humans evolved in small tribes, to cling to the tribe and to kill the those of the neighboring tribe. Humans are barbaric superstitious killer apes. Judeo-Christian values and Enlightenment values enabled humanity, at least in the United States, to aspire to something better. That is what we threw out under the guise of progressiveness. Young people today embrace Stalinism and Hamas. They may not know the classics but they have learned how to riot, burn, and terrorize and kill those who they disagree with. Those are our future leaders.
Schools have replaced teaching about the great achievements of the past with teaching destructive lies. Universities have become places not where young people are taught to think and where knowledge is created, but rather places where young people are indoctrinated to be mindless cells in the totalitarian socialist collective, and where knowledge is obliterated.
The tragedy of the present is that Christian values have been replaced by woke values. And woke values allow for no personal freedom, no economic freedom, and view the free pursuit of knowledge as white racism. Indeed even claiming that there are objective facts is white racism.
Woke has left our country a shell devoid of its culture. It has burnt its cities and torn down monuments to its history and great men. Islam is eating the rotting corpse of Western culture. Humanistic secularism has not eliminated the worship of Gods, but has proved to be the worship of Marx, and Gaia, and set the stage for Allah.
In this holiday season we still have a lot to be thankful for but we used to have more to be thankful for. And the patient of civilization is quite ill. None of the indicators look good.
