A friend, gentleman and fellow church member was just found dead from a home invasion at his Atlanta-area home. He was shot twice in the back.
Barney was not sick to our knowledge, and he was a faithful contributing member of our church family, and his community.
Crazy things are happening in the world all the time, and people are being killed senselessly all the time. But when it is a friend or family member, it's an emotional jolt to one’s sense of right and wrong.
We don't know all of the details of the police investigation yet, but we do know Barney. He was in his home. He was shot twice. And now he is dead.
We know we must all leave this earthly life one day. We just don't know the day, the time or the way. Sometimes, illness and sickness allows us to gradually accept the inevitable. A sudden senseless killing leaves us asking why.
Only God knows.
That's why we pray for the family, and know that as painful and shocking as it is, Barney is in a better place.
Barney, we will miss you, but never forget you.
