“Through extensive social media and digital outreach, the national organization aims to increase the number of eligible citizens who register to vote and who actually show up to the polls on election day. “The launch video shows Obama and Miranda personally making voter registration calls, reminding the other co-chairs to vote in every election — “school board, state house, all of them,” Obama instructs. “Voting is the only way to ensure that our values and priorities are represented in the halls of power,” Obama says in a statement in When We All Vote’s press release. “And it’s not enough to just vote for president every four years. We all have to vote in every single election: for mayor, governor, school board, state legislature and Congress. The leaders we elect to these offices help determine just about every aspect of our lives and our democracy. So the future of our families, our communities and our country belongs to those of us who show up, cast our votes, and make our voices heard. “Voting is a small act that proves that we are a democracy — a government of the people and by the people. It’s up to each and every one of us to make sure our government doesn’t just represent a small some — not just the most powerful—but all of us. When we all vote, we are making strides toward a more perfect union,” Hanks says in a statement.”
…” While DSA-backed candidates promote a “big-tent” philosophy, the group’s constitution describes its members as socialists who “reject an economic order based on private profit” and “share a vision of a humane social order based on popular control of resources and production, economic planning, equitable distribution, feminism, racial equality and non-oppressive relationships. (NY Times) “Members during public meetings often refer to each other as “comrades,” wear clothing featuring socialist symbols like the rose and promote authors such as Karl Marx.”Their rose symbol is a red fist and their leaders mostly millionaires.
“There are 42 people running for offices at the federal, state and local levels this year with the formal endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America, the organization says. They span 20 states, including Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Michigan. (NY Times) “The most ambitious Democrats in Washington have been reluctant to embrace the label, even as they embrace the policies defining modern-day democratic socialism: Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition and the abolition of the federal department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE. “Members during public meetings often refer to each other as “comrades,” wear clothing featuring socialist symbols like the rose and promote authors such as Karl Marx.”It’s far more than the common association with the failed Soviet Union making it difficult for sympathetic liberals to explain their connection.
...Sanders' plan to provide free government-sponsored health care for all Americans had no co-sponsors in 2013. Today, more than one-third of Senate Democrats and two-thirds of House Democrats have signed onto the proposal, which by one estimate could cost taxpayers as much as $32 trillion. “The co-sponsors include some 2020 presidential prospects, such as Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and California Sen. Kamala Harris. (NY Times) “Those senators aren’t calling themselves democratic socialists but also not disassociating themselves from the movement’s priorities.”Talk about eating their cake and having it too!
The red rose "has always been an important symbol with anti-authoritarian associations," prominently displayed at early May Day celebrations in the 19th century, and later adopted by Democratic Socialist parties in the U.S. and abroad. (Mashable) "The DSA began asking their followers to incorporate the rose emoji into their profiles to show that they were "not afraid to stand behind democratic socialism and [the DSA].”
“Comedians, journalists, and authors are among the influential ranks that have incorporated the rose emoji into their tweets and bios, creating a visual web of Democratic Socialists throughout the internet, but more importantly, throughout different factions of society. They like to portray Trump as the only petunia in the rose garden."After Bernie Sanders's explosive campaign made universal healthcare a topic of national conversation, membership rose by almost 2,000, a representative told Mashable. If Donald MF Trump can get elected President, *you* can stand up & say you're a socialist. I did. And it felt #great. Join @DemSocialists

“But the real growth occurred after Donald Trump won the presidency, which skyrocketed membership up to 21,000. The DSA also credits movements like Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter for their membership.” (Mashable)Though Progressives go to great lengths to deny it, ‘Birds of a Feather’ DO ‘flock together’. Bernie’s rose emoji should be slapped on the identities of all Progressives. That way, it will be so much easier identifying who the Communists are in November’s Midterm elections.
