Democrats Receive Double Whammy But Haven't Figured It Out Yet

Not many people may see it, but the Democrat Party has been hit hard with two punches that just may seal their fate in 2020 and beyond. One is the Democrat pro-socialist argument, with Venezuela about to totally implode with civil war. The other is the 'conventional wisdom' of the Democrats, the media, and Hollywood concerning unrestricted abortion while the majority of Americans from both parties are in opposition. Abortion remains the liberal's hallowed sacrament. It is their sign of independence from everything that is moral, holy and Judeo-Christian.

As of late, the Hard Left has been sending strong signals to the Supreme Court and any who might oppose their 'right' to kill their children on demand, that they will be a 'force to be reckoned with.' They have seen the current Supreme Court and its near future and they are panicked. New York has recently passed into law the Reproductive Health Act, proudly and happily signed by Governor Cuomo, that every woman in New York State has the right to abort (kill) their child up to the moment of birth for any reason. The Governor even ordered One World Trade Center to be lit pink in celebration. Calls to Cardinal Dolan from prominent Catholics to excommunicate Governor Cuomo were met with a lukewarm "It would be counter-productive." Since the Cardinal has made his decision to not ex-communicate the governor or prevent his taking communion, one has to assume Cuomo remains a Catholic in good standing, leaving many other Catholics and most Americans astounded. Some critics have written that the Cardinal has become more of a politician than a religious leader. Other states are now introducing or considering new laws pertaining to abortion. The states of New Mexico, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington...all Democrat states, are proposing unrestricted abortion similar to New York State or stripping away old laws that limit abortions. With this grim proposal of killing children in and outside the womb acceptable to the Left, what will be the effect of the possibility of Medicare For All on the elderly or infirmed when rationing begins to unavoidably take hold?

The second punch is originating from Venezuela. With that collapsing country at the brink of civil war, proving once again that socialism does not work, every Democratic candidate is incredibly still preaching socialized medicine, free college, 70% tax rates, and on and on. It is something to behold. A Marist poll released in mid January, 2019, shows that a substantial majority of Americans, 75%, want abortions either restricted to a maximum of 3 months, only in cases of rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother. Only 15% of Americans favor unconditional abortion. Interestingly, another recent poll from Pew Research shows that 53% of Democrats say their party needs to move more to the right...a bad sign for Democrats. 58% of Republicans feel the GOP needs to move more to the right. A definite trend here. In spite of their insistence to the contrary, the Democrat leadership is apparently way off the mainstream. Interestingly, 40% of Democrats say they need to move more to the left. These are the people running the show at the DNC. They are the ones the media and Hollywood are focused on and supporting. In essence, if Marist and Pew are even close to accurate, somewhere between 15 and 20% of Americans are desperately pushing the hard left agenda and are taking no prisoners.

With every Democrat 2020 candidate talking abortion, socialism, free college, free healthcare, universal income, pushing a Green New Deal...no burning of fossil fuels in twelve years, on and on, and no idea how to pay for it or even implement it, the GOP needs to let them keep talking. How many Democrats have stopped to realize that the ceasing of fossil fuel burning means no gasoline or diesel cars and trucks, the grounding of all aircraft, ships, farm equipment, manufacturing, and most trains? And there is no technology on the horizon that can supply even a significant fraction of our needs. It would send us back to the mid 19th century. Who are these people? It is frightening that these liberals/socialists who have no understanding of economics, no understanding of who creates wealth and jobs want to govern this nation. Let the hard Left do what it does best...go too far. Curiously, the middle-of-the-road Democrats remain silent. The Republicans have been given a tremendous gift...a way to show voters and the world that they are on the right side of what makes nations great. The hard left Democrats have re-awakened a sleeping giant once again. The voters that have been turned off by Trump's management style are now thinking that we have much bigger problems...like how to convince the lucid members of a political party that their leaders are nuts.
