“White House adviser Hope Hicks has tested positive for COVID-19 after traveling with President Trump to a rally in Duluth, Minn. “Hicks, who serves as counselor to the president, traveled with him aboard Air Force One to Tuesday night’s debate and to his rally in Minnesota the following day.
“President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus, the President announced early Friday morning. "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"Trump tweeted shortly before 1 am Friday. The President had said earlier in the night that he planned to quarantine.
"Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!" Trump tweeted Thursday night.
"The President takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously," White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement. "White House Operations collaborates with the Physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the President is traveling," Deere said. ”Multiple White House staffers have tested positive for the virus, including Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence's press secretary, as well as one of the president's personal valets. Hicks is the closest aide to Trump to test positive so far.”

“Update: The Washington Post deleted the tweet at roughly 2:00 a.m. EDT. “The ill-timed tweet was sent at 1:33 a.m. EDT, 39 minutes after President Trump tweeted news of the diagnosis. “The tweet linked to a column by Eugene Robinson, which had been posted early Thursday afternoon and was unrelated to the news of Trump’s diagnosis. “Still, the timing of the Post tweet made the column rather macabre reading: If you are like me and you watched Tuesday’s debate with a voice in your head screaming make it stop, take heart: We have the power to do just that. We can evict President Trump from the territory he has forcibly seized in our minds. We can — we must — vote him out of our thoughts. We can remove this awful man from our collective headspace, which he has so thoroughly befouled. We can reclaim our serenity, our equilibrium, our sense 0f common humanity. We can return to a time when it was possible to go hours or even entire days without once thinking about what our president might be saying or doing. We can exhale.
“Imagine what we could do with the brainpower that is now sucked into Trump’s massive black hole of an ego. How much easier would it be to convince our neighbors to follow the advice of scientists on how best to halt the covid-19 pandemic without having to spend time combating Trump’s bleach-soaked misinformation campaign? What might we be able to do to stimulate a devastated economy without having to worry about the president’s need to brand every bit of aid as a personal gift? Where might the conversation about systemic racism be able to start without the president questioning whether racism even exists, or ever existed, in the faux-America of his limited imagination?” “The Post‘s motto, adopted for the Trump presidency, is: “Democracy dies in darkness.”In quarantine, the president will have to cancel all scheduled rallies for the next 14 days, being able to emerge from it only two weeks before Election Day. The ‘Kill Switch’ mentioned above leans on the Democrats perhaps being able to keep a pandemic panicked populace from getting out to vote in-person. The Democrats need the coronavirus to remain in the news in order to blame the president for it. But not all, as the Democrats hope it is, is lost. The Democrats are running a complete viral campaign for their presidential hopeful Joe Biden. The president will now have the same option. As Dr. Sean P. Conley, the president’s physician, says: “Rest assured I expected the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments.” Meanwhile, the POTUS will work in the same status as the rest of us; from Home Lockdown.
