Because of the announced withdrawal date, the Mujahideen may actually be losing the war. Driven by their greed to utilize Afghan strategic geographical location to further their expansionist, extremist militant are actually loosing the support of local population bases.

In fact, many Afghans have seen enough foreign invasions and are now fed up with Pakistani Taliban and Islamic terrorists. Less and less people are now joining the ranks of the Taliban to have a chance to join the Afghan army. Taliban are now leaving, bled to death by Afghan armies. The insurgents have to wear United States uniforms to hope for some success and each time their best effort came up short. The security at the Salerns base stopped twenty one of them some days ago. Petraeus knows more than any general before him that this war is different because of its asymmetric nature. He has made it a primary objective to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan population. So the United States has recently been successful in destroying the Taliban and all Qaeda power base within Afghanistan. Eventually, the United States will hand off the majority of the country’s security to local forces, maintaining a reduced military presence. The force will be responsible for continuing to train Afghan military and to disrupt al Qaeda and prevent their return. The announced withdrawal date can actually make Taliban lose the war.
