Mr. John Dingell is a man whom has held the congressional office in the 15th district far longer than anyone should be given the right to. He has been in office for over 55 years, following his father, who previously held the office.

We are a representative government and not an aristocracy that supports family members following in the footsteps of one another. “We the People” support those whom we deem eligible to lead us by “voting” them into office. It seems that the long tenures in office tend to make those in power forget the values and the rules for which this government was formed by our founding fathers. They have ignored the pleas of the American citizens as they passed legislation after legislation that was deemed unacceptable by the people. We can no longer sit on the sidelines and wait for those in Washington to straighten out the mess they have made of our economy as well as our security, and the health of our great “Constitution” that has made this Nation the Freest and most prosperous in the world. This we need to protect, and with the November elections just six weeks away, it is time for us to exercise our rights and vote for those who will bring good sense back to the elected offices and return our country to the “promises”, our Forefathers gave us. It is time to send Mr. Dingell to his retirement and we have a candidate, Doctor Rob Steele, running for the seat against Mr. Dingell. He is someone who has great character, believes in our country and our Constitution, and actually understands it. He is fiscally responsible, and believes that the healthcare bill will do more harm than good. He believes in reform that will work, not one that will raise the cost to all and reduce the care that Americans have enjoyed from the greatest healthcare system in the world. He does not believe in “career” politicians and is moved to participate in this election because of the state of affairs this country is in. I applaud him for taking away from a life that is full, with a thriving medical practice and a partner in a medical office that employs 300 people as well as a fulfilling private life with his wife and four children. He has chosen to take this on because of his dedication to the values we hold dear in this country, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, which is spelled out in our Declaration of Independence. I have the deepest faith that this man can and will win this race against an incumbent who should have retired many years ago. If I could clone this man, and put his character and honesty in the offices of those who would ignore us, we would do America the most sincere favor. Elizabeth Gillanders
