Tax exempt Charitable Big Business

Environmentalism-fundraising is a mega-big money business industry

Lucrative and Growing Why do you suppose so many Environmental Organizations have multiplied onto the scene in the past 20 or so years? According to the American 'Urban Institute', in 2005, 48% of these Environmental and Conservation organizations were only 10 years old or less.

The US Internal Revenue (IRS) 2005 data, reveals more than 26,500 Environmental and Conservation Organizations, 8,000 of which had revenues of $25,000 or more. These Enviro groups in 2005 racked-up annual total revenues of $ 8.24 billion, up from 1.9 billion 20 years ago in 1989. The number of Enviro groups focusing on Global Warming/Climate Change exploded in the last decade and so did their revenues. 'Nonprofit Environmental Organizations' have been milking something highly lucrative and very $$$ Green.

Tax exempt corporate structures

As Nonprofit corps. these Enviro groups are tax protected-structured to qualify under the IRS registered category 501(c)(3) tax deductable, and/or 501(c)(4) organizations. This allows them to solicit funding so their donors contributions are tax exempt. It also encourages political lobbying and those expenses become tax deductable to the Nonprofits as do their donations to the political parties. Lobbying, government importance for policy and funding probably explains why the largest Enviro Organizations (by revenue) are clustered around Washington DC, like The Nature Conservancy, National Geographic Society, World Wildlife Fund, National Wildlife Federation, Conservation International, etc. In 2004, Senator James Inhofe (R) stated "Todays Environmental Groups are simply Democrat political machines with Millions of dollars in contributions and expenditures each year for the purpose of raising more money to pursue their agenda". Canada's Revenue Agency, (CRA) is much the same. Environmental Organizations register as 'Charities' and (due to their 'education function'), qualify to issue tax-deductable receipts for donations rec'd. Also, they can spend up to 10% of their funds on 'political advocacy', or lobbying. Maybe this explains why British Columbians have been saddled and harnessed with the only regressive consumer Carbon-Tax penalty laws in North America, thanks to the Suzuki Foundations lobbying and dumb politicians.

Highly orchestrated fundraising business organizations

For example, one of Canada's highest profiled 'David Suzuki Foundation', a medium sized, Environmental Nonprofit (Charitable) group out of Vancouver BC, heavy with academic university degrees in it's Management and Board of Directors such as: Ex govt. bureaucrats; Govt. lobbyists; Administrative 'image managers'; 'Political Science' experts; Finance and Business experts; CGA Accountants; Lawyers; Nonprofit tax avoidance experts; Professional strategic campaign organizers, fundraisers, direct marketers, recruiting experts; Broadcasting and communications gurus, Ecological Economics professor; Carbon Tax Cap and Trade promoters; Wealthy philanthropist families (Bronfmans); plus a host of other big name honorary members and social activists, affiliate organizations, foundations etc. Do you get the feeling these guys are quite capable of manipulating all the tax loopholes and business advantages? The donations are tax free from the givers and receivers. Suzuki, in 2008 took in 5 million from 'public (and business) donations', 2.4 million from 'foundations', for a tax-deductable total of 7.7 million, up 16.6% from 2007 Of this, they spent approx. 82% on operating costs, themselves, fundraising and a collection of activities, some nebulously described as 'Public Education', 'Sustainability', 'Climate Change', 'Nature Challenge', 'Science and Conservation' etc. Basically it appears to all fit into convienient word descriptions of promoting and perpetuating their own cause. Other revenues come from donors such as: >Government grants, >Estate and Legacy gifts, as many entire and partial private family estates are willed to them. >Conservation Trusts, Foundations, Federations, Societies etc. >Employee charity-salary deductions from big Corporations and Unions etc. >Students. Many Environmental Organizations contract out their advertising, solicitations, telemarketing, direct mailing etc. to specialized Fundraising Companies which is a big business sector in itself. Then there are grassroot advocacy programs, programs to convert more activists to donors, programs to educate and influence opinion, leverage social networks and media to reach a new generation of younger supporters, on and on etc.

Cap and Trade

Al Gore knows where the money is to be made. When he was Clinton's Vice President, he demonized and stopped all new Nuclear Generating Plants. As a result, hundreds more Coal Burning Generating Plants were built by necessity. Since he caused the very increased atmospheric pollution problems he is ranting about, opportunistic Al (never to let a problem go to waste) has been raking in $ millions from the gullible Europeans, by brokering so called 'carbon-credits'. The scam whereby polluters can buy credits from non polluters so they can pollute some more. Like a fat person buying 'food stamp tokens' from a skinny person so the fat person can get even more obese. Big Al in the vicious circle he created, needs to promote, advertise and hype his 'climate fear deceit campaign' to sell more carbon credits as in the current world economic downer, nobody wants or is buying them at any price. So now it seems he is trying to work a backroom (kickback-slush-fund) deal with Obama, Nancy, Harry and the Dems to sucker in his fellow countrymen to enter 'Cap and Trade' so he can bilk them too, which has been his plan all along.

Fear Sells

The Enviro Non-Profit Organizations have their own hyped program of doomsday catastrophies and 'Wildlife Extinction' fears plus they cheer on Big Al as the more Global Climate hysteria and scary alarmist catastrophic lies he whips up, (like the 'Inconvenient Truth' movie shown in schools to scare the kids) the more it benefits and perpetuates both of their fundraising industries. It's little wonder we are inundated with a constant propaganda campaign given the huge money involved.

Alberta's Tar Sands

The big US Enviro Foundations are pumping $ millions into smaller Canadian Enviro groups to try to completely stop the Tar Sands oil industry. The hypocrisy is that they discredit arguments from anyone connected to the Big-Oil or Big-Coal Industry and yet they themselves are on the fat-cat Big-Money tax-exempt gravy train. Many Little old ladies are being conned into thinking they are saving the planet by willing their inherited family fortunes to a lot of these money hungry leach organizations who do more environmental and social harm than good. Environmental Organizations have a common theme evident in their reports and literature. They are anti-business, anti-development, anti-consumer, anti-energy of any kind, anti-human beings, anti-anything that allows us to have an economy and jobs to feed our families. I'm sure the Governments will eventually find a way to eliminate those tax exemptions and loopholes, but meanwhile, make my day, gag, expose and discredit an extreme environmentalist and never ever donate or give them anything as it only encourages them to ask for more.
