Exceeding the limit

There are few things more irritating or destructive than a self-righteous liberal with self-endowed moral authority. The current refugee crisis in the Middle East, arguably the result of policies propagated by a smug, self-righteous American president is a case in point. This crisis has been festering for upward of a half decade and has already displaced millions of people in the Middle East and resulted in several hundred thousand deaths. Yet none of the liberal brain trust has thought that allowing the crisis to mutate into ever more savage dimensions would have consequences for the rest of us.

As a result we are suddenly faced with a torrent of humanity seeking a better and more secure lifestyle and of course, Western liberals are stepping up to offer relief. For instance, Germany’s Angela Merkel has offered to accept some 800,000 displaced persons this year and pledges Germany to continue accepting approximately 500,000 per year for the next decade. Many other European nations are following suit, though admittedly not on the order of magnitude as Germany. France has agreed to accept 24,000 refugees, while Britain is pledging haven for 20,000. Of course, several other European nations have had hundreds of thousands of unwanted migrants show up on their doorstep over the past few years, adding to the overall disastrous state of affairs. Even Australia has gotten into the act by offering to take in some 12,000 refugees from Syria. While the United States is hedging its bets considering a petition to the White House to bring Syrian refugees to America, the smart money is wagering that Obama will dither and dilly dally until his hand is forced and he will announce an open door policy to these unfortunate souls. The Conservative government of Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper maintains that the best way to assuage this humanitarian crisis is to deal with its cause. As such, the Harper Government has put forward no offer to settle Syrian refugees. One of the chief reasons for this is that the refugee camps are primarily majority Muslim camps with no other religious minorities represented.

The practical meaning of this is that Christians, Copts, Druze and Kurdish minorities cannot survive within the camps. As such, these minorities are relegated to conditions that make the refugee camps seem like a YMCA summer camp.

Earlier this year Canada opened its doors to over 20,000 Christian and other minority refugees, as they were clearly at risk of being murdered by the Islamic extremists currently driving the violence in the Middle East. I laud Prime Minister Harper’s stand that Canada should not resettle any refugees currently attempting to enter Western nations. There are in excess of 15 million displaced persons in the Middle East and it makes no sense to relocate all of them to the West. On the contrary, relocating refugees fleeing ISIS is likely one of the worst things Western governments can do for many reasons. First and foremost, how many of these ‘refugees’ are Jihadists sent to the West to foment violence? There are many estimates about the actual number of Islamic Jihadists worldwide. Here’s an example taken from Craig Winn’s Prophet of Doom:

Middle East political commentator Daniel Pipes says that there are no less than 130 million Islamic jihadists but I don't believe that is possible because there haven't been sufficient jihadist attacks over the past 20 years for that many Muslims to be engaged in the business of killing people for Allah. The potential pool of jihadists, however, is reasonably close to Pipes' estimate. Before you get a warm and cozy feeling, thinking that only 60% of Muslims are sufficiently indoctrinated in fundamentalist Islam to be a terrorist should the opportunity arise, (sic) and that only 25% of those Muslims are the appropriate age and sex to actually engage in jihad, let's consider some recent historical events. And yet since that 3% was sufficiently corrupted by Hitler's "People's Religion" as it was immorally and ruthlessly laid out in Mein Kampf, that 3% came to oppress the entire nation and led the world into a war that killed 50 million people. Also keep in mind that while only 15% of Muslims are potential jihadists today, that percentage is growing rapidly. Thanks to OPEC funding and clerical indoctrination, the Islamic world is becoming increasingly fundamentalist. In twenty years most Muslims could be terrorists - and probably will be.

For this reason alone, the West should be much more circumspect when offering to resettle refugees, as the prevailing ethos of Islam is a form of tribalism that precludes assimilation into the host culture and seeks to transform it into an Islamic colony.

The second reason is that the West simply can’t afford the economic strain that an endless influx of immigrants ultimately presents. Recently Sweden has changed its immigration and refugee policies, as that country has recognized Muslim will never be integrated into traditional Swedish society and the stresses of unemployed wards of the state with little knowledge of the Swedish language and even fewer usable skills creates a serious economic strain as well as no small amount of animosity between native Swedes and their Islamic guests. The world economy is currently too precarious to allow civilized industrial nations to take on the responsibility for the care and well-being of millions of individuals with skill sets germane to the 12th Century, not the 21st. It’s disgusting how Canada’s Left has appropriated this human tragedy in order to garner political capital. Justin Trudeau, the ‘trust fund offspring’ of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau is clamouring to flood Canada with tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, never once taking into consideration the health and well-being of Canada, while blindly racing toward a few percentage points of political advantage. Ditto Thomas Mulcair, Canada’s Socialist party leader who proposes to dispatch military aircraft to “save” the Syrian refugees. That’s akin to the United States lending a few aircraft carriers to Japan in November of 1941. There’s no doubt that Canada is undergoing one of its most important elections since World War II. I hope and pray that Canadian voters, whose innate goodness and generosity, allows them to see through the fluff touted by these two and relegate them to where they belong.
