Facebook is seeking ways to purge or disrupt "fake news" stories and postings. That is a slippery slope that should send up red flags to all Facebook users. Isn't it interesting that no one is suggesting truth in political campaign advertising? Those ads do more damage to our political process at an enormous cost than any free speech postings on social media. We can only speculate on the effects of total truth in political ads. And for those of us who were sick to death of them this season, we wonder how many would not have aired if they were required to meet some basic standards of honesty? It is curious that Facebook is only opening this discussion following the defeat of their anointed candidate. Do they think that censoring stories from the right will help them win back the White House? I'm suggesting that is exactly what they think. We are all able to check out anything we read, using multiple sources, we certainly don't need and don't want the content of our information decided by someone or some group that disagrees with our views. And you can bet your bottom dollar liberals would be apoplectic if anyone suggested censoring their content. This is the United States of America. We have rights. For heaven sake people, protect those rights.
