Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose

Fiducia interruptus; Trust interrupted!

Fiducia interruptus; trust interrupted! Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose. With all of the mind-numbing numbers of political payoffs to unions and political contributors at the expense of the taxpayers, non-taxpayers and countless generations to come, there are two (2) reasons our economy remains mired in quicksand, neither of them financial.

One reason is that people in both political parties have abused the trust given them by the electorate. When people feel abused and ignored by the perceived governing party (remember, the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006), they fly into the outstretched arms of the other party. With too much frequency, the other party is an equal, if not a greater, abuser. The elections of 2006 and 2008 are perfect examples. Easily the most important reason, yet one that very few are willing to acknowledge, let alone discuss, is our nation’s headlong flight away from our Lord and His bountiful grace. By straying from our Creator, morals, ethics, principles and trust are lost, and the citizens of our blessed country become carrion for the vultures inside both political parties, special interest groups, and hostile parties beyond our borders. Because my dentist says it isn’t good for me to grind my teeth, I refuse to listen to the calculated half-truths and outright lies from the President and others in the regime and the Bilderberg media. After listening to an excerpt from the comments made by the President on Friday, 9/10, I believe any thinking American should be insulted by his audacity. A defensive President Obama hemmed-&-hawed in addressing a question about the mounting evidence that the costs of his signature political ‘victory,’ Stealth-care, are mushrooming. His response was that when you add 30 million people to the number of insured, costs will have to go up. That is a direct contradiction of the numerous boasts by the President, the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader, and other leading Demoncrats (intentional spelling) that a leading reason Stealth-care had to be passed was to ‘reduce’ the cost of health-care. Doesn’t he realize we have him and the others on video, audio and in print making this bold claim? If I were with the RNC, I’d be amassing all of their boasts prior to the bill being rammed down the throats of the American public and contrast them to the President’s comments of 9/10, running this ad from now until the mid-term election. This might put Sharron Angle over the top in her bid to oust Harry Reid in the race for the Senate seat in NV. With the dichotomy of boasts vs. reality, and the resulting erosion of trust, is there any wonder why the economy remains mired in quicksand, and ‘under & unemployment’ remains stubbornly high? Progressives and Liberals never let facts get in the way of their ‘idiotology,’ so one thing is for sure. The TEA Party and those who are fiscally and socially conservative need to channel the energy and enthusiasm of their legions into the voting booth on November 2nd to win the day. Those elected need to heed the grace of the Holy Spirit in conducting themselves honorably, and in the best interests of the nation. All too often, those of political and financial privilege escape accountability for their actions. That must end for trust to be restored. ‘Political capital’ comes from trust, and both parties have squandered virtually all credibility with a determined and continued assault against the Constitution, our economy, our freedoms, and Christianity (social justice, political correctness and situational ethics leading to the razing of morals, ethics and, by default, the law). Not only is our economy fueled by the consumer (not unions, or expensive and inefficient ‘green’ technology and energy), but it is dependent upon the entrepreneurial spirit of those who are willing to step out from the masses to pursue their dreams and create solutions in the form of businesses. Because many in government and big business are jealous of, even intimidated by, entrepreneurial success, they are loath to see the engine of growth being greased. In the best of environments, starting or expanding a business is fraught with uncertainties. That is why so few people have the intestinal fortitude to break from the pack. When Uncle Sam becomes an un-invited and ever-demanding ‘silent’ partner in the form of ever-expanding taxes and punitive regulation, the incentive of entrepreneurship is stolen. Additionally, money and opportunities that could go towards hiring people by those who are in the best position to lead us out of our man-made malaise is stolen. There are those pushing for a temporary payroll tax holiday for businesses. While this well-intentioned solution is targeted towards employers to reduce the cost of conducting business with the intention that the savings be re-channeled for hiring, it is temporary and misdirected. The tax holiday is regressive because it does nothing for the unemployed, and little more for the many who are under-employed, all of whom are consumers. Why hire new employees if there are no new consumers? We need a long-term tax system that restores trust, keeps money in the hands of the consumer, transcends election cycles and political manipulation for power, and promotes innovation for consistent growth and competiveness in an increasingly competitive global economy. Until the American entrepreneur and consumer regains his/her trust that government and its policies will reward the innovators and growth instead of punishing them, and allow the consumer to retain what he/she earns, no stimulus or tax incentive for hiring W-2 personnel will re-energize our economy, and spending will continue to flat-line, if not shrink. This is particularly true with oppressive taxes and eco-policies that ‘redistribute’ business and consumers’ money to the coffers of a menacing government and its ‘knighted’ beneficiaries. Most of all, we need to acknowledge the source of our bountiful country and pray for a miracle. Our Lord won’t intervene and deliver us from our current malaise without being invited to do so.
