Dumas’ apology was no apology at all but only a means to duck the blowback that soon followed her vicious Tweet.

Fr. Z outs Colbert’s Show Priest Jesuit James Martin in “Glad We Ruined Kavanaugh’s Life” Tweet

Fr. Z outs Colbert’s Show Priest Jesuit James Martin in “Glad We Ruined Kavanaugh’s Life” Tweet Secular media—including Fox News—would be more up to date if they read newsworthy blogs like Fr. Z’s. The witty and often savvy Fr. Z points out that Ariel Dumas, a writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, who posted on Twitter "Whatever happens, I'm just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh's life”, later locking her account, shares birds-of-a-feather status with homosexual activist and Jesuit priest, Fr. James Martin.
“Her tweet came as the Senate confirmed Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court by a 50-48 vote, with Republicans saying that the several allegations of decades-old sexual misconduct brought against him simply lacked sufficient corroboration and credibility. (Fox News, Oct. 7, 2018) Back to Fr. Z: (Father Z, Oct. 7, 2018) “Homosexualist activist and Jesuit Fr. James Martin, LGBTSJ, calls himself the “Show Chaplain” for the execrable and only occasionally amusing Stephen Colbert, HERE and HERE”, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf posted yesterday. Dumas tried walking back her hateful Tweet saying that she was only trying to be sarcastic—but not without exposing Martin moonlighting as Colbert’s “Show Chaplain”. Were it not for Fr. Z, like many other things, it would have gone straight over mainstream and social medias’ heads:
“I was alerted to a story at Fox and at Twitchy, which recounts how a writer for Colbert wrote a horrific tweet about now-Justice Kavanaugh.(Father Z) “Show writer Ariel Dumas (pronounced “dumass” perhaps?) posted: “Whatever happens, I’m just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh’s life.” “Nice, huh?  Look at that again. “She’s glad that “we” ruined a man’s life. “Can we assume that “we” means people she associates with, perhaps on the staff of the show?

“A few examples of how Colbert’s present show (written by Arial Dumass) treated Kavanaugh.   HERE and HERE and HERE. “Yep… they tried to ruin a man’s life. “That’s hilarious, isn’t it. “She later deleted this tweet (someone captured it) and then locked her account. “This is a great example of how the Left thinks and works: personal destruction of anyone they find threatening. “This is the crowd that Martin, LGBTSJ, runs with.  “How will the “chaplain” of the Colbert Show handle this?  “He has taken a public position on and about that show.  In this news, you can see something of the culture behind the show.”

Unfortunately, Father, that seems to be the culture behind most television shows these days. Nor, as Fr. Z points out, is this the first and only time that Colbert’s show went after Brett Kavanaugh.
“Colbert's show has mocked Kavanaugh repeatedly. In July, shortly after Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court was announced, Colbert even criticized the then-nominee's first name, saying it "sounds less like a Supreme Court justice and more like a waiter at a Ruby Tuesday’s.” (Fox News) “Dumas apologized on Sunday, claiming she was being "sarcastic" because Kavanaugh's elevation to the Supreme Court demonstrated that his life had not, in fact, been entirely derailed by the accusations as some Republicans had claimed.”
And just for the record it was not Kavanaugh and his family who suffered most from the vile treatment of the left and its supporters over the last several weeks, it was Dumas— “personally”.
"The last couple of weeks have been hard for the country and for me personally.” (Fox News)
Dumas’ apology was no apology at all but only a means to duck the blowback that soon followed her vicious Tweet. And it was irresponsible for CBS to tell inquiring media that the Dumas Tweet speaks for itself”. (Fox News) Meanwhile, kudos to Fr. Z for speaking truth to power, not to mention being a better reporter than those in the mainstream media. And P.S. Fr. Z’s always been is so right about constantly reminding us all to “GO TO CONFESSION!”
