Gods, Scoundrels & Patriots: Parsing the Odd Non-Red Wave, Nov 8, ‘22

So the horrific happened to conservatives, Libertarians and Republicans. The augurs suggested that this would be the blowout of all blowouts. And that the crazy Biden leadership would get a slap in the face in a realignment. That Donald Trump's lieutenant would be ensconced on his way back into office. And that God himself was reinstituting Republican control to save this nation. So what happened…

Here are a few thoughts.

It's too early to know exactly what happened

  1. It's too early to know exactly what happened and so like Kari Lake says, let's be patient.
  2. My belief is that the early voting had a bigger impact on the race than we would want to think and therefore even if the tide changed it was too late. Therefore since bad news is oft exposed at the very e
  3. nd for a candidate we need to cancel early voting except in traditional scenarios such as overseas military.
  4. And perhaps this is a note to myself – But did we really do everything that we could have to support our candidates and get our philosophy of governance out there? I personally could have done more. So if this was the race of a lifetime then it takes a higher level of commitment from us all, with all due respect. The worst thing we as Conservatives can do is get caught in the “Why, ME?!!” cycle of self-pity and doubt.
  5. the voting issue was never settled. Instead, it was buried. Because we hate to be called conspiracists. And we suffer the fear of getting sued by giant corporations or to be dropped by friends. Ends up, we failed to do the job of investigating the machines. When the Democrats were aggravated and claimed all the elections were certified and there was no hijinx we tended to back off. What we should have done is figure out how to setup forensic examinations of the machines and put them through a battery of tests. So, in a sense, we're lost on the issues – still in the place we were 2 years ago with our knowledge & technology. Lesson: we desperately need to return to paper ballots

I richly commend anyone who hasn't given up the fight

  1. If this is the dark night of our soul then it is time to dig deep and ask how we can do a better job as conservatives? Since the conservative movement is essentially the political arm of Christianity we really need to ask if our faith has fallen in this culture and what we can do about that. On this, a few thoughts;
    1. Are we following the doctrines of the Gospel, the teachings of Jesus?
    2. Are we studying the deep conservative beliefs in history, and getting them into public forums?
    3. Are we making ourselves attractive messengers of our political convictions?
    4. Do we understand this is a spiritual battle and have we considered soaking these events in prayer and fasting?

I richly commend anyone who hasn't given up the fight since conservatives and Libertarians are oft treated like Sideshow freaks. But friends, we suffer from an embarrassment of riches. We have the history, the arguments, the logic – and a God behind our movement to return His things to this culture. Let's not give up.

Let's dress our wounds and and soak our bruises and get ready for the next round. I love any fellow conservative for simply extolling the truth and fighting for the future. Kelly
