Goodbye incandescent light bulbs

Well, we're about to see the last of our 40 and 60 watt incandescent bulbs at the end of this year.

The EPA said it was good for us, so, the replacement for the incandescent bulbs is what they call CFL's - Compact Fluorescent Lamps. Some are guaranteed for 5-10 years (yeah, right. Don't lose your receipt). I'm so glad that EPA is watching out for the public, but they want us to bring Mercury (CFL ingredient) into our homes? If you drop one and it breaks, open the windows, leave the house, and call HAZMAT. EPA forced that on us? PS Try reading under one. It's not easy. Alex Schark Quincy, MA
