Masquerading as a solution

Gun control is a cop out

It's mind boggling how quickly the gun control advocates jump on the bandwagon anytime there is a mass shooting. It appears to be an "I told you so" moment for them.

It doesn't seem to occur to them that there is a more important discuss that we should be having. The perpetrators of the these shootings are all mentally ill and the signs were apparent. The most divisive issue surrounding these shootings is that we are unwilling to call things for what they are. We are so afraid that we will be politically incorrect that no one speaks up. We are denying the root issue and in doing so, very sick people do unspeakable things. Everyone suffers: the shooter, their families, their victims, the victims' families, communities and society as whole. All because, in this country, it is not acceptable to suggest that someone has a mental illness and because if you do, there is little help for them. Calling for gun control is a cop out. It masquerades as a solution but it isn't even close. Kindest Regards, Penny Lorence
