Here we go again: Protesters block road to Trump rally in Arizona

Maybe this is a question we need to consider: At what point does your First Amendment right to protest cross the line into basic criminality? But there really isn't all that much to consider, is there? You're within your rights to express your opinion as long as you're not breaking laws or causing havoc in the process. When you're physically blocking a highway and making it impossible for ingress and egress to proceed as normal on a public road, I'd say at that point you're nothing but a nuisance to society - and the only place for you at that point is jail. But Chicago upped the ante when it came to anti-Donald Trump protests. It's now not enough to merely voice disapproval with Trump or with his intention to speak in your community. Now, anything else that a ruckus sufficient to cancel Trump's rally renders you a failure - a huge disappointment to the cause.

So these idiots in Arizona's Maricopa County weren't content to merely protest Trump. They were going to make sure no one could even get to the rally: The protesters in Arizona parked vehicles sideways on Shea Boulevard, blocking both lanes of traffic into Fountain Hills, where Trump held a rally Saturday afternoon, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Deputy Joaquin Enriquez told CNN. Enriquez described Shea Boulevard as the main artery into the area and the protesters' actions were causing motorists to drive into oncoming traffic as they tried to get around them. Traffic was backed up for miles due to the blockage. "This is causing huge issues for us," Enriquez told CNN. He added, "We obviously have to get this road open." Enriquez later told CNN that three protesters were arrested and two cars were towed from the boulevard. The deputy emphasized that the arrests were due to protesters blocking the roadway, not because of the protest itself.

The fact that Deputy Enriquez would even find it necessary to clarify to the news media tells you everything you need to know about the news media, but also about the professional-protest left, which would have no compunction whatsoever about committing obvious crimes in the course of a protest and then claim to have been arrested merely for expressing an opinion. There's no sense expecting shame from the shameless. And let's be accurate in our labeling while we're at it. These are not "protesters" and they are certainly not people exercising any sort of right under the First Amendment. They're criminals and among their crimes is the attempt to deny other people their right to act in accordance with the First Amendment. Whether your objections to Donald Trump are completely legitimate or based on total nonsense, none of that gives you the right to try to stop him from speaking nor others from going to hear him speak. Stand on the sidewalk and screech about what's bothering you. Yep. You have the right to do that. Physically bar others from doing what they have the right to do, and you belong behind bars. You are the enemy of the Constitution. But much as we've seen on college campuses with the dumbass demands for "safe spaces" and so forth, the left now believes it's not enough that they can say what they want to say. They think they also have the right to silence speakers who bother them. And when this happens, much of the media blames it on Trump for supposedly being too provocative. That's quite a position coming from people whose entire livelihood depends on respect for the First Amendment, but then the media have always pretty much believed the First Amendment is only important insofar as it applies to them.
