A baseball fan has suffered 'life-threatening injuries' after she was struck by shards from a broken bat at Fenway Park.

The woman was watching the Boston Red Sox with her husband and son when she was hit by the piece of wood that came flying from the bat of Oakland Athletics third-baseman Brett Lawrie.
