As of 1:30 p.m., on November 3, here’s where we stand: The Senate remains in Democratic hands.

Thanks to your tremendous support, we chalked up wins against Sharron Angle in Nevada, Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, Linda McMahon in Connecticut, John Raese in West Virginia, and Carly Fiorina in California, and this morning Colorado was called for the Democrats. Votes are still being counted in Washington State, but it looks like we will prevail there as well. None of this could have happened without 500,000 activists and donors stepping up again and again, allowing us to reach every fundraising goal we set. With these small-dollar gifts we went toe to toe with Karl Rove’s billionaires, the Chamber, and the national GOP. And in one of the toughest environments in a generation, we together not only held our own, but we defied odds and prevented the so-called Tea Party wave in the Senate. Eighty years ago -- the last time one body of the Congress changed hands and not the other. That is one tremendous feat and you were a huge part of it. While this was a difficult election night, together we acted as a firewall between America and complete disaster. This truly is an astonishing achievement, and you deserve so much of the credit. Thank you. Sincerely, J.B. Poersch Paid for by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, dscc.org, and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.
