MARKHAM, ON, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. has announced pricing for its all-new 2011 Sonata. The totally redesigned 2011 Sonata offers hundreds of dollars-worth of content with only minor price increases from the previous model year Sonata, and starts at under $23,000.

The 2011 Sonata is the only all-new model in the intermediate segment. And with its striking Fluidic Sculpture design, it makes a bold statement about how cars in this category can look. The second vehicle launched under this new design direction, the all-new Sonata proves that Hyundai is moving its vehicles upscale, creating products that consumers aspire to drive. Hyundai has packed a lot of content into the 2011 Sonata at prices not much higher than those for the previous model year. For example, at $22,649, the entry-level Sonata GL - which comes with a six-speed manual transmission - is only $150 more than the base 2010 Sonata. The volume seller for Sonata is the GL with an automatic transmission. For 2011, it is offered for $24,249, only $250 more than the 2010 model. This feature-packed model includes an improved engine with more power, better fuel economy and lower emissions. The six-speed automatic transmission replaces a five-speed transmission, and it offers a long list of standard features, including Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and solar glass. These features add up to a total of $750 worth of content for a price increase of only $250. All this in a stunning new look with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) large-car interior designation. "The Sonata is an important vehicle for our brand," said John Vernile, vice president, marketing, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "We know the sleek styling is going to grab a lot of attention, so we're pleased to offer pricing that makes it attainable." Hyundai is committed to fuel economy leadership, and was recently ranked at the top of the EPA's fuel economy report - ahead of traditional leaders such as Honda and Toyota. This commitment to fuel efficiency is evident in the all-new Sonata. Thanks to a new 2.4-litre Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder engine, new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions and highly refined aerodynamics, the all-new Sonata offers class-leading fuel economy. Along with improved fuel economy, the GDI engine also enables the Sonata to offer tremendous power and decreased emissions. This is the only GDI engine in the direct competitive set; Fusion, Camry, Malibu, Accord, Altima, and Mazda6 do not offer this engine technology.
