MARKHAM, ON, - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced today that it has achieved 33 consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth. A total of 11,110 Hyundai vehicles were sold in September, a gain of 6.8% over the corresponding period in 2010.
Hyundai has sold 104,091 units in the first three quarters of 2011, an increase of 9.0% relative to the same point last year. Heading into the last three months of the year, Hyundai remains the number-one selling passenger car brand in Canada with sales of 71,403 units year-to-date. "With one of the strongest product line-ups in the industry, our outlook for the remainder of the year is strong," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "Hyundai has become synonymous with quality, fuel efficiency, safety, and style. In combining these elements, our products represent an unparalleled value for Canadian consumers."

The unique and aggressively-styled Veloster three-door coupe attained sales of 568 units in September, its first full month on sale. Thanks to advanced technologies like Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and an available EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission, Veloster blends hybrid-like fuel efficiency with concept car styling and a rewarding driving experience. Kelleher added that Veloster's value goes beyond sales results, its innovative layout and styling drawing attention to the Hyundai brand. "In just its first month on sale, Veloster is already generating increased showroom traffic. By offering such a high level of style and content in the compact coupe category, we've given Canadians yet another compelling reason to visit one of Hyundai's 200 dealerships." In September, Hyundai vehicles consuming less than 5.0 L/100 km represented over half of total sales. The Sonata Hybrid intermediate sedan, Elantra compact sedan, Accent subcompact, and Veloster 3-door coupe consume fuel at a respective rate of just 4.6, 4.9, 4.8 and 4.9 L/100km on the highway.
