MARKHAM, ON, - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced today that it sold 8,417 vehicles in November, representing an 8.8% increase over the same month last year. Hyundai sold 122,750 units year-to-date, an increase of 9.2% over the same period last year and surpassed the 118,507 units sold during the full 12 months of 2010.
The November result also represents the 35th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth and the best-ever November in company history. Further, Hyundai remains the number-one selling passenger car brand in Canada with sales of 84,579 units year-to-date. "Despite a relatively flat industry, Hyundai Canada will have its best year in company history," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "Canadian consumers have shown a strong desire for stylish, fuel efficient, high-quality vehicles which has led them to put Hyundai on their shopping list. Combine that with the enthusiasm from our designers and engineers to develop world-class vehicles and a dealer group dedicated to customer satisfaction, you have a recipe for a great year."

Hyundai also won two Canadian awards in November. Automotive consumer website Auto123.com awarded the Accent and Elantra with the 2012 Subcompact Car of the Year and 2012 Compact Car of the Year, respectively. The wins come four weeks after the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) announced that the Accent, Elantra and Veloster three-door coupe were named Best New Small Car under $21,000, Best New Small Car over $21,000, and Best New Sports/Performance Car under $50,000, respectively. In November, Hyundai vehicles consuming less than 5.0 L/100 km represented 52.5% of total sales. The Sonata Hybrid intermediate sedan, Elantra compact sedan, Accent subcompact, and Veloster 3-door coupe consume fuel at a respective rate of just 4.6, 4.9, 4.8 and 4.9 L/100km on the highway.
