I Hate Mothers

Well, no, I don’t – but plenty of other people seem to. But don’t take my word for it. Please watch this video. It is one of the most bizarre, ugly and reprehensible videos you will see on this Mothers’ Day:

Talk about a culture which is scraping the bottom of the septic tank. Using Mothers’ Day to celebrate the wretched agenda of Planned Parenthood and its baby killing agenda is about as low as you can go. How diabolical and hate-filled can some people be? Sure, they are claiming they are doing this out of concern about maternal deaths, but it is really just another cheap trick to promote the pro-death agenda of groups like Planned Parenthood. One article discusses this anti-mothering initiative this way:

But Vogue model Christy Turlington Burns and a host of female celebrities are encouraging mothers across the nation to ignore their children as part of ‘No Mother’s Day,’ a sign of their support for reducing maternal mortality by supporting family planning and global access to abortion. “The campaign asks women to ‘disappear’ on Mother’s Day to raise awareness of maternal mortality rates and underscore ‘just how much a mother is missed when she’s gone.’ But amidst positive initiatives such as improved health care for complications such as hemorrhage and sepsis, the campaign promotes ‘safe’ abortion, and the legalization of abortion in nations where the practice is currently illegal, as a means of lowering maternal deaths. “A press release for Every Mother Counts, the nonprofit Turlington launched in 2010, notes a new PSA ‘features moms encouraging other moms to join in solidarity by disappearing on May 13th, Mother’s Day. No phone calls. No emails. No social media. No gifts.’ “Turlington told Time magazine, ‘It’s a day to stop going through the motions…It’s about taking that [day] back.’ The spot, which was posted online last Wednesday and is directed by Ed Burns, features Turlington, former ‘Will and Grace’ star Debra Messing, NBC’s Ann Curry, Jennifer Connelly, Kelly Rutherford, Blythe Danner, Dayle Haddon, and other high-profile women. “Amongst the project’s partners are the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the extreme pro-abortion group Women Deliver, and the United Nations Population Fund. The UNPFA is well known in pro-life circles for the fact that the U.S. State Department confirmed over a number of years that the organization provides ‘financial and technical assistance’ for China’s vicious one-child policy.”

Of course if these radicals were really concerned about preventing death – both to mothers and children – then they should stop spruiking the abortion crusade, and start campaigning against it. Abortion obviously kills millions of unborn babies every year, but plenty of mothers die from “legal” abortions as well. And despite what she claims in her documentary, the facts lie elsewhere: “The film’s assertion that legal abortion is safe is belied by worldwide data on the matter. A recent study out of Chile shows maternal mortality declined after the nation outlawed therapeutic abortion in 1989. The percentage of women dying during childbirth is lower in that South American nation than the United States. Ireland, another country where abortion is illegal, also boasts one of the lowest maternal mortality rates in the world.” Up until recently it was assumed that motherhood was simply an untouchable and unassailable good. But today in our toxic culture we have even managed to turn motherhood into something to be rejected and distained. Of course this has been a long standing component of the feminist movement. Consider just a few quotes from the sisterhood on this denigration of mothers and motherhood:

• “No woman should be authorised to stay at home and raise her children. Society should be totally different. Women should not have the choice, precisely because if there is such a choice, too many women will make that one.” - Simone de Beauvior
• “The care of the young is infinitely better left to trained professionals rather than to harried amateurs with little time nor taste for the education of young minds.” - Kate Millet
• “A variety of ways have been suggested for reducing [women’s] desire for babies. One commonly suggested proposal to achieve this goal is greater encouragement of labor-force participation by women. . . . [Perhaps girls could] be given an electric shock whenever they see a picture of an adorable baby until the very thought of motherhood becomes anathema to them. . .” -Jesse Bernard
• “In order to raise children with equality, we must take them away from families and communally raise them.” - Mary Jo Bane
• “Unless women have, from the moment of birth, socialization for, expectations of, and preparation for a viable significant alternative to motherhood . . . women will continue to want and reproduce too many children.” -Wilma Scott Heide, former chairman of the board of directors, National Organisation of Women

And it is not just the radical fems who are pushing this anti-motherhood nonsense. For years now most of our political parties have bought the line that the only good woman is a career woman, and everything should be done to subsidize women in the paid workplace while penalizing women who choose to stay home and raise and rear children. So this latest outburst from our trendy celeb set is just more of the same. We have been dumping on mothers for decades now. Given that motherhood has now become taboo, I guess that leaves only apple pie. But I am sure an Anti-Apple Pie Day will soon enough be called for by the radicals.
