Community service and Government service experience

I have more government and community experience than Barak Obama

Though I'm not running for President, it's interesting to note that I personally have more experience as an elected or appointed government official, and as a volunteer community organizer than presidential candidate Barak Obama. Therefore, I believe I'm very qualified to post the following comparison, and render an opinion.

I served as a Vice President of Opportunity Village Association for Retarded Citizens (OV) for 12 years, and President of OV for 4 years while volunteering at least 20 hours per week in service to OV's clients. I also served as Chairman of Nevada Goodwill Industries for 4 years, totaling 20 years as an administrator in community service organizations. OV and Goodwill are the two largest charities in Nevada serving thousands of disabled persons. Both organizations have multi-million dollar budgets that their boards of directors administer. I signed all the accounts payable and payroll checks for both organizations at one time or another. Barak Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago's Altgeld Gardens public housing project for five years. Steve Miller - Community organizer: 25 years. Barak Obama - Community organizer: 5 years. I was appointed by the mayor and Las Vegas City Council to a Blue Ribbon Master Planning board and served in this position for three years before being elected to the city council where I served for four years. I was also appointed to serve on the Clark County Regional Transportation Commissioner for three years. Barak Obama served in a lessor position than that of a city councilman while on the Illinois Senate for 7 years. (It is customary for persons who desire to run for higher office to first seek a non-paying seat on a state assembly or state senate, then seek a paying seat on their state's largest city's city council or commission.) I also held an appointed position with the Federal Aviation Administration for 5 years. Barak Obama has served as a Junior United States Senator for a total of 143 days. Steve Miller - Government service: Total - 15 years. Barak Obama - Government service: Total - 7.5 years. My wife Lisa is the daughter of a United States Air Force officer and fighter pilot who was shot down behind enemy lines during WW 2 and imprisoned by the Nazis for over two years. Though I did not personally serve in the armed forces, I was the recipient of the VFW President's Award for volunteering my services to veteran's needs. Based on the above comparison, I do not believe Steve Miller or Barak Obama have even the minimum background or qualification to be President of the United States.

From my Readers

From my readers: MR. MILLER: HOW DARE YOU COMPARE YOURSELF WITH BARAC OBAMA, A GREAT AND SELFLESS MAN WHO HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR HIS COUNTRY? REMOVE ME FROM YOU MAILING LIST IMMEDIATELY!- JW ----------------------------------------------------------------- Great, I won't vote for you. If you get your way McAin will give us four more years of Bush type death with a slightly higher IQ. We are doomed. The economy is going under. We are headed for terrible times. The real estate boom in Las Vegas is over. Casino projects are failing. Hardly matters which # is president. We suck wind either way. Jan ---------------------------------------------------------------- He is failing weekly in the polls...it may not turn out his way? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Tough to swallow, I guess, that Barack is going to be our next president. Anything but a Republican. McCain is scary, like having Bush in there all over again. Tbey've done enough damage to this country; we don't need the Republicans doing any more. CS --------------------------------------------------------------- Steve: I think chasing bad guys is starting to get to you. You're starting to sound crazy. Remember, they said the guy who supposedly killed 5 people with anthrax was crazy just before he committed “suicide”. You're too good a guy to give them an excuse. Chill out! - RF -------------------------------------------------------------- Steve: Experience is overrated. There are a lot of other things that count for more, not the least of which is the ability to listen to others and a sense of humility. You want experience. How about dick cheney and Donald rumsfeld. How about Senator bird the king of pork, or Stevens from Alaska. Or that geaser racist who recently died. Then there is Herbert Hoover. You want experience. Lyndon Johnson had experience and look what it got him vis-a-vis Viet Nam. One could make the case that in politics lack of experience is a definite plus. - Doug ----------------------------------------------------------------- Steve: Send out an email saying, "if you can't beat em, join em" and that you've accepted a position working with Rizzolo. MS ----------------------------------------------------------------- oh boy... are you trying to lose readers? first the pacman picture, now this.... i'm sure you're getting responses to fill your email box -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
