Ignatieff and his Reckless Coalition: They did it before.  They’ll do it again.

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Today, Prime Minister Stephen Harper reminded Canadians of the Coalition agreement signed by the Opposition parties. “The Liberals, the NDP, and the Bloc Québécois have a plan to re-create and re-impose their reckless, unprincipled Coalition on Canadians. That’s why Canada must have a strong, stable national government, and only the Conservative Party can provide it.”

And in response to opposition denials, Prime Minister Harper reminded Canadians that “they did it before. It is obvious they will do it again.” In his introduction of the Prime Minister, Minister Jason Kenney reminded Canadians that the Liberals ruled out a Coalition during the last election only to form one after the votes were counted and the Conservatives had won. He also reminded Canadians that Michael Ignatieff had said that he was prepared to “form a coalition government and to lead that government.” Prime Minister Harper also pointed to the cost to Canadians of a Coalition government — higher taxes, higher spending, and instability: “what is it that these Coalition partners actually agree on? We know — spend more, and raise taxes to pay for it.” He pointed out that the Bloc Québécois had amended its platform to allow it to enter into a Coalition government. “Imagine giving a role of government to a party committed to the breakup of Canada,” said Harper. “Canada needs a stable national government that will protect our economic advantage, complete our economic recovery and keep taxes down.”
