imageNo one and nothing can take away the heartache when a beloved dog dies.

But it was the irresistible Griffen, with all of his tail-wagging ways, who eased the still grieving heart of Mark Levin after his dog Sprite died.  And that’s just one of the countless reasons why Griffen was so loved by his master.

On FaceBook tonight Levin writes, “If you want to learn about my buddy Griffen, you can read the last chapter of Rescuing Sprite.”  “In Memory of Griffen Levin”, posted on his website, is really a tribute to all dogs.

Millions know constitutional expert Mark Levin, the nationally syndicated talk show radio host, always first on the breaking news of the day.  Many know him as the author of the brilliant Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto,  called the most important philosophical work to be published since Ayn Rand’s 1957 philosophical novel, Atlas Shrugged. When it was released in March 2009, Liberty and Tyranny was the number 1 best-selling, non-fiction hard back in the entire U.S.A.

Fewer know that Mark Levin penned the heart-stealing book, Rescuing Sprite.

The range of Mark Levin’s writing is truly remarkable, making him the Mark Twain of his day.

Passionate, personable and knowledgeable, the porch light is always on at the Mark Levin show, 6 p.m, Monday through Friday.

He’s the quintessential dog lover that so many dog owners have turned to in their grief and heartbreaking loss. Even as Griffen was gravely ill, Mark Levin always took time to commiserate with those who had lost their dogs.

Tonight he’ll be missing the irrepressible Griffen as he will for all nights thereafter.

Other friends may come and go,  but there’s something about the tail-wagging members of our family that remains in the human heart forever.

Time, no matter how long, never erases the memories of a loyal dog who makes a house a home.

I like to think that the Good Lord, knowing about the valley of tears called life on Earth knew exactly what He was doing when He made the noble dog, Man’s Best Friend.

Meanwhile, there is some comfort in knowing that on some other plane, Griffen now gambols across meadows with the lovable Sprite.
